Totally agree, plus, he knew his contract was until the end of the season, and he's known, and spoke for some time now that it was going to be renewed. He knew that when Nick was in charge.

Plus like Ben says, its best for him, he'll get no end of great offers back in Oz, and already fans of various Oz clubs are trying to entice him to their clubs.

As I said, if Garcia wanted to leave because other, more stable clubs could offer him something now then fine. It's not the decision to let him go that I take issue with, It's the fact that the owners have made that decision that annoys me. Owners or chairmen picking players never works. I'd be surprised if they even knew where he plays.

With Garcia, and Dawson likewise we should, under the circumstances, have said "We don't have a manager yet unfortunately, when we do have a manager he'll let you know if he wants you. If you need something quicker then you're welcome to leave." That would have been best for all concerned and completely fair. But what if Davies takes over and thinks "Right I want to play 4-4-2 with balanced wingers playing on their favoured side, who's the best right-footed right winger we have?" He'll have to go and sing even more players than he'' already need.

I completely agree, there is nothing wrong with not offering a deal right now, I'd find it equally stupid if they offered him a deal now. The point is they shouldn't have done anything regarding the players without the approval of a manager.

But they've told him he isn't needed at all for next year and he won't be back.

If as you suggest there is some kind of deadline to offer a deal then it isn't a problem at all, and you'd hope they have spoken to the candidate(s) for new manager about it too, but I'm not convinced they had to tell him a month in advance of his contract being up that he has no future here at all, unless of course they have spoken to a new manager about it. But since they've said they wanted to decide on players in January I'd be inclinded to think this is more of the same.

Not down to the Allams. He has a contract which expires at the end of June. 30 days before then they have sent him the requisite letter telling him that the contract will not be renewed. That was actually Nick Barmby's decision and was well known to Garcia some while ago. The letter is just the official confirmation of the club's position. Garcia knows that. He has not been "got rid of" he has just not been retained. He says ""I've had a letter saying that my services won't be retained for next year"...

If a new manager walks in and says "we want Richard Garcia" then they'll offer him a new contract which he can take or leave as he chooses.

As I recall it he was actually offered a new contract last year but declined to sign it. He then suffered an Injury which made it less likely that we would want him. If he had signed the offered contract he would not be in this position now. This is the risk you take as a professional footballer.

That twat Bullard had signed a contract so we were stuck with the pillock. Hence our reticence to offer other injured players long contracts.

I think I'm right in saying that notwithstanding the contract situation Hull City actually supported Garcia through his convalescence, which they did not have to do. An act of generosity by the owners, which a few people on here commented on.

By the way, for the avoidance of doubt, I'm a big fan of Richard Garcia, Top Bloke, Top Professional, and a bloody hard worker. Just wish he was 5 years younger. But clubs move on or we'd still have Raich Carter playing for us (Waggy could probably still get in the side anyway).

Thanks for all your nice comments... It's been a pleasure to be part of the club

He's not just been tweeted by City fans, he's got tweets from Colchester fans and fans of most of the A-League clubs fans and some of the City players, he even got one from Duffen(which I can't see, as the ****er banned me).

Yeah, I see your point. I guess we just got to the point where either we didn't think he could hack it anymore, or we had better options. Perhaps both. I assume that there are still enough "football" orientated people at the club to say that time is up. Maybe even the Medico's.

Agreed - all you get on the Fail site is people slagging each other off. No one on there seems to have a clue what's going on + sensible comments are few and far between

Alan Shearer is on twitter now and he has tweeted that he can't understand any manager wanting to go to Chelsea when their owner is choosing players himself to sign. Hope that is not going to be the route the Allam's are going.

Whoever comes in has got a hell of a job on and a decreasing amount of time to do so. Does anyone know if this is nearly sorted now or what?

We're in advanced talks with our preferred candidate. Maybe they've indicated they don't want him on the money he's asking for, so the Allams have given him written confirmation (for the purposes of international clearance it would speed up any move he makes) that he's free to talk to other clubs. That way if he gets an offer from somewhere else he doesn't have to tell them he's holding out for a contract here only to lose out because they sign someone else whilst he's waiting.

There's also the thing about having to pay them in July that Newcastle fell foul of. Maybe we avoid that by telling them now that they're going to be released.

I doubt that the advanced talks will have included which players they want or don't want. Advanced talks will have been about Managers contract and what is expected of him etc I would have thought.
