Just shows why there is a lack of expectation with the National team at the moment. Thread bare in terms of quality
England look no hopers but that is how heroes are born. One thing we know with Roy is that they will be tactically very astute. The question is can England really hurt teams on the break? They are going to have to be ruthless and gutsy at the same time all tournament.
Armoise looks interesting in Sandowns opener to their good evening card. He won with tonnes in hand at Yarmouth, nicely bred and looked the sort who could edge up the handicap. Kirby and Botti often do well together with these sorts and he might soilve a typically tricky opening puzzle.
Little bit of 'oh yes'.......'oh no' here, can't say i'm sad to see the back of Lampard but Henderson is useless
Lampard wouldn't have got a game anyway would he? What with Gerard being Captain and the fact that little known tribes in the Amazon jungle know full well that Gerard and Lampard can't play together.
FFS can't believe that Weld horse just got beat off that donkey. All in on Baileys Jubilee 7/2 is a steal
They aren't thread bare Shearer. Michael Carrick has run the United midfield for 6 years and hasn't gotten any recognition at international level when his game is perfectly suited to it. Capello, Sven, Roy - none of them are as good as Fergie and yet they all seem to think they know better than him. In the time Carrick's been at United we've won the League 4 times, been the second most successful club in the Champions League winning it once and reaching the final on another two occasions. It's obviously not all down to him but he's a massive part of the way we play. Wether people appreciate united or not he's been a key figure in our success. In the same time period that england have overlooked him they have won nothing and regularly proven so boring to watch that I know of many people who won't watch them any more unless it's big tournaments.
Carrick said he didn't want to play if he wasn't guaranteed to start - roy told the big baby to **** off well done Sir.
That's not strictly true. The reports are that Carrick didn't want to be selected if he was going to be a bit part player. Why would anyone who starts for the best team in England (over the last 6 years) go to be a bit part player in an unsuccessful and frankly backward international team? I find it baffling that if you have a nucleus of players playing for one or two clubs who have been incredibly successful in domestic football i.e. United and Chelsea - you wouldn't try to replicate that kind of football at the international stage when you have so little time with them to develop a different style of play.
