O/T Counterfeit Beer

Not surprised if it was Adnams Spitfire, we're back to counterfeit brew - Spitfire is a Shepherd Neame brew. Adnams is actually pretty quaffable (to me), it's just the way real ale is pulled down here that doesn't make it as smooth to drink.

With you on the black stuff, I enjoy a few pints of that, though gone are the days where I would go out and sup 12 pints of it.

 

It might have been Adnams' 'Broadsword'?

 

Not drinking until two weeks time when I am away for a few days and it coincides with the England v Sweden game- people pointing out that drinking is bad for you should realise that most things are bad for you if done inappropriately. Looking forward to a few beers anyway, my favourites are Old Peculiar, various German lagers, Guinness, pretty much everything but not so keen on your Fosters/Carling type generic beers.

 

It's quite ironic that people think certain drugs are worse than alcohol, Alcohol poisoning kills, whilst Marijuana only gets you high, it takes 800 joints in 20 minutes to actually overdose on Marijuana so in health cases it's more safe than Alcohol, although the effects of Marijuana could lead to dangerous situations

 

It was a while ago.

I'm confused now whether it was an Adnams pint or this Spitfire stuff.

Whatever it was it tasted non too clever.

 

I don't really have a problem with weed. I was just comparing alcohol to things like LSD because for some reason people seem to think alcohol is worse.

By the way, what the hell is mkat? I literally have no clue, I can't keep up with kids these days and I'm only 19

 

Update - Brewtown Tiger was 100% spot on with his post this morning. It's like he saw the future.

Trading Standards called me, told me that they went to the shop and took some Coronas, then spoke to the brewery who mentioned the issue with mis-printed batches and they were aware of it. They then told me, my beer was legitimate and drinkable. I thanked them, and thought "Ooops".

Anyhow, I wish to put on record that Nisa/Premier/Todays Extra at the bottom of Fairfax Avenue is indeed a fine establishment, and will not rot your guts with industrial strength alcohol knock offs. I hope I did not besmirch their good name (whichever one it is).

My Coronas are back in the fridge. Perhaps they're just not as nice as I remembered them to be, or they're out of date (must check that).

So yeah I'm a grass.

Also, just to say, I promote responsible drinking and see no reason why the odd drink here and there cannot compliment an otherwise healthy lifestyle. I make sure I eat properly at all times, run on average at least 10 miles a week and visit the gym 2 or 3 times a week. I do not consider a beer on top of that to be a slow suicide.

It's a powder drug similar to cocaine, alot of kids in my school do it, quite a bad drug, equalling cocaine, Hull is apparently notorious for it's Khat take, the highest in the country, all the chavs take it....

 

The majority of my friends are drug-taking ****s.

It grinds my gears. They only do it to fit in. Fact.

And I hate that.

Just been reading into it. "Mephedrone" is the real name. It's absolutely mental, I went to a small secondary school and I think there were only about 3 people who had every touched drugs. Apparently a study was done and 20% of kids had done it in '11.

It's all gone to ****, and it's not even generational anymore. I'm already saying "kids these days" and I haven't even hit my twenties

 

My conscience could indeed break me down in such a way.

I reckon I'll just avoid it.

I was only there because my mum and dad live near there, and I'd visited that day. It's not my usual place to buy provisions.

I blame Matt Allwright. He put me on a heightened sense of alert after doing a feature on Watchdog saying that spelling mistakes are the main clue as to knock off piddle. I jumped to a conclusion, and I was wrong. Alas, I am just a human.

I hope a rogue trader knocks Allwright the **** out now, by way of revenge for this whole sorry affair.

 

To be fair, I think if any of us saw spelling mistakes we'd jump to the same conclusion.

 

Some of the lads at my school that do it ar nice lads, there typical stoners, the're not thugs or aggressive people, just laid back stoners , but MCAT is quite dangerous, I would never touch the stuff

 

Hate to tell you but, it will get worse. When you think *Jesus Christ I sounded like my mum/dad then* you know its over!

 

I propose they change the name of this thread to "Supergrass"

In all seriousness though, bad alcohol is no joke. A couple of months ago they were selling self-made alcohol here and it killed about 150 people.

 

Was it like 99% ethanol?

 

More likely methanol - that's the (poisonous) stuff in surgical spirits, methylated spirits, boot-polish, etc. Makes you go mad and/or blind....

 

Pure ethanol is still really dangerous in stuff like Vodka, especially stuff like Everclear

 

Exactly methanol, it was something very serious many people died and others are blind.
