Slightly surprised at this, surely he would've known he was purchased as an investment for the future? I can't blame anyone for being disappointed at missing out on regular football but to say these kind of selfish things is way over the top in my view. Did he seriously expect to be picked ahead of Drogba and Torres (even Sturridge) in his first season at just 18 years of age? When we signed him I thought we'd signed a player passionate about Chelsea but it appears not.

I'm also surprised by this. He should know that he was not going to start a head of Drogba and Torres. As you said Lukaku was bought in for the future.

I thought he would be buzzing about his future, I understand his need to play football but he should be excited to go out on loan and gain some Premier League experience rather than see it as a chore and moan about it. Selfish twat!

Young man + inflated price tag misguided sense of worth.

If the reports are true then he should be moved on imo.

Nah, don't all go off half cock about this... It's probably been taken out of context as most things like this usually are, or it's bollocks. It also doesn't quote this :

"I think I deserved more chances at Chelsea. What I really need is three months to prove myself. Last year I played a game, then nothing for three weeks except games with the reserves and then I was on the bench. That is not easy for a young player. I also said that to Chelsea and they understood my concerns. I have become a better player though. I lost weight, I move a lot more on the field and I really think I have the ability to play for Chelsea."

Lest we forget that a certain other lump of a striker didn't truly become great until he was 26/27ish, so I think it would be folly to write Lukaku off so soon. We will never know what he's capable of unless we play him, and he looked sharp in that final game too, at the very least we should play him in the league/FA cup and that's without taking into consideration any rotational/injury needs of the squad. To be honest I'd be more worried if he wasn't whinging, wouldn't you ?

Its a childish sulk! He needs to work at winning a place! I imagine with Drogs now gone, he might have more of a chance, at least as a bench warmer for Torres--but he's got an attitude problem!

    He cost £13m, not £22m.

And I agree with Coolhand83 that wanting to offload players who want to play and show what they can do is counter productive and just silly. Do we prefer someone who is happy to pick up his weekly wage and never play? He is only 19, at such a young age players still have immaturity in them and if just a little bit of hype surrounds them about being the next best thing, then all of a sudden they think they are the dog's bollocks. What Lukaku needs is leadership and discipline, not to be told to fuck off because of a story that the media chose to try and dig out of him and display in the particular light in which they want, as that will make us look like the much bigger fools and we may be punished for it in the future.

He has no attitude problem. What he said is perfectly justifiable. He was unhappy and someone as talented as him would be. He wasn't expecting to be a starter but more prem games and the cup games should have been standard, but AVB screwed him over. Already showed signs of real talent in the Balckburn game. Hope he stays as second striker.

Yurilly--I can live with his disappointment at not making the team this year , which was a complicated death struggle , from start to finish! AVB was leading us off in the wrong direction, and by the time the brass realised it, the experienced pro's we're eyeballs out to repair the damage--not really a time to experiment with Lukaku or any other untried talent!v He's only 19 and his day will come!

The thing that annoyed me was that he said he felt 'nothing' about our win the other week, surely you'd expect him to after that emotional school trip to the bridge video a few years back.

Least he would play regulary whilst gaining even more experience would suit all round considering the players your looking at bringing in!

Hazard and Hulk should even make City's alarm bells start ringing.

Give him a break fellas, he's what ,18 or 19 years old ????
They are all brainless at that age ( with apologies to my nephews ) and rarely take more than a nano second before giving the world the wisdom of their experience.
The kid wants to play, no more than that, and next season he's a big chance to do that in our less important games.

I think about the video he made when he visited the ground and how he want to play for us one day and I can understand his desire. I don't think he's done the right thing but as has been said the lads young and passionate and wants to do it for us more than anything.

He said he felt nothing because he played no part in the final or the build up. That's good. He wants to create his own success. We need that sort of attitude.
