I think Rodgers will do well personally, the way he will get Liverpool to play will probably buy him a lot of time at Liverpool. If you understand what I mean by that.

Lambert I actually don't know, great manager and a great motivator but with them having to slash wage bill, team full of youth players I think he may well struggle. I think it's going to be a difficult job for him and if he doesn't get them to finish top half will he still have the job? My guess is no and I also don't think he has resources to acheive that. Time will tell I think.

agree with much of this exile <ok>

and i certainly feel rodgers has moved too soon - believed the hype surrounding himself. lambert is trickier - had he stayed i'd have said next year would be his final season with us so the timing is not quite as strange, even if choice of club is a little bit odd. thing si, if liverpool come in for you, it must be very difficult to turn down. they are one of the biggest clubs in europe. ok, they are crap at the moment but i doubt it would take too much tinkering to get them at least moving in the right direction. villa is certainly not as clear cut - maybe thats why people are so disappointed.

me? i knew this day would come eventually. i'm a little surprised it has happened under these circumstances but i'm excited about what will happen next. a new approach from a new manager. i'm intrigued to see who we appoint and who they bring in <ok>

why? have you ever looked into his performance as a manager? if you do, and don't just look at his results, ask huddersfield fans about him, i think you'll find he'd be a disaster. or is that why you want him at carrow road...

Bit confused why lambo is off to villa when Rodgers is getting the Liverpool job. Should of waited another year IMO

he won't be able to click his fingers and make them play like that! their fans may expect that but that takes years to master how to play like that. roberto martinez is the guy who made swansea play like that - rodgers (and sousa before him) just carried it on and reaped the rewards! he is doomed to fail because he's believed the over-the-top hype surrounding him

I'm still not totally convinced by Rodgers, clearly a good manager, but I don't think he's as good as his current reputation. There's still this lingering doubt about how much was down to him at Swansea, and how much the foundation laid by Martinez. As you say, time will tell.

I don't quite see why, Guru. He'll be on the list of possibles, I'm sure. But doing an OK job in league one doesn't make him a shoe in.

Agree he won't click his fingers and they'll play like that course but the fact is he will want them to eventually play like that, that's what I mean about that buying him time. Liverpool fans will be more patient if they believe that the end product will be Liverpool playing possession football.

Rodgers deal isn't done. Liverpool are stalling over the amount of compensation.

For what its worth Thai, i think PL is making a mistake if he goes to Villa. I would have liked him to prove me wrong and take Norwich on but something is not right.
All managers see a good pay day and bigger clubs but history proves that it doesn't always work out. Villa don't have huge amounts of money and will need lots of new players.

it is going to be fascinating to see how lambert does if he goes to villa - will he approach it the same way he did with us? not sure how the villa fans are going to take to him - not sure they'll like him to be honest but i suppose lots depends on results

I am keeping opened minded tbh as most successful Norwich managers have moved and and failed quite miserably at other clubs. It might be different this time, it might not. As supers says - it's going to be interesting (fascinating? Not for me mate <laugh>) to see how well he does IF it is Villa he eventually goes to.

Supers, just out of interest, did the contacts you've heard from at C.R. say Lambo's decision to quit was just about a refusal to let him speak to Villa, or has there been anything else going on?

Anyone else feeling remarkably unflustered by this news, or is it just me? All of us knew this would happen one day and were all dreading the day it actually did, but now it has finally happened I feel oddly ambivalent about it. No drama, just a shrug of the shoulders and “ah well, onwards we go…” Really weird, didn't expect to feel like this at all.

Thanks for what you did for us, you were certainly a catalyst to the success of NCFC in the past three seasons but you certainly weren’t the bedrock, that’s us, the fans. We are the most important part of this club and we’ll still be here come rain or shine, regardless who is in charge or what division we may be playing in so onwards and upwards and let’s look forward to seeing who we bring in to replace Paul wossisname <ok>

none of my sources said he has actually quit - just want to make that clear - i got the quit news from midlands journalists and it seemed to tally - they left it open and weren't saying either way, though it certainly looks as though he is on the verge if he hasn't already - but it seemed to be down to disagreements about the permission to speak to villa formally that caused the storm. that's all i've heard i'm afraid - probably pretty much the same as everyone else has now. only thing i've heard since is that lambert is still at norwich discussing god knows what! <ok>

Cheers mate <ok>

Does anybody know whether, with a one year rolling contract, it would make much difference to compensation if we gave permission to talk?
Just seems that, if he's saying 'let me talk to them or I'll quit', we might as well let him, unless it hugely changes the compo.
