Is that Dragqueen's 'phrase of the day'? Almost certainly picked up from someone else. I'm right aren't I? "Let's flog it to death until everyone's sick of it. Just like that ****ing poster I nicked and made out it was mine until some bounder let the cat out of the bag"
Funny thing is if you take the piss out of him too much he then cant take it and asks you to stop "for the sake of the threads" strange guy is KJ likes to play until it gets too rough then runs off and takes his football home with him !! ive lost count of the times he pleaded with me to stop mentioning he was a Newcastle fan !! though you would never think it by the way he likes to impress on us that he was "there at wembley" and "seen us play the big teams" im presuming he was talking about Swansea city ! .. me thinks he tries too hard to be a Jack !! shame he let it our that he loves the Toon !!
Not really sure you can blame Jinks, although you seem he'll bent on doing so. If Jinks knew about this a while ago, and kept quiet about it, it may well have allowed us to secure Gylfi's signature. I very much doubt we'd be at this stage of the process regards signing him if Brendans wish to leave was all out in the open. Anyway, Brendan's gone, and good luck to him. I certainly appreciate where he helped get us to today...and for getting the $4-5 million compensation clause in his contract. As for the future, I have every confidence that Jinks and the board will bring in someone that will make us even stronger and I'm genuinely excited by that prospect !
I'm also surprised that he left so early as I thought he'd stay another year at least. But since Monday it's been pretty obvious that there was a very good chance that he'd leave. What I really can't understand is how so many people on here just failed to see that even when the evidence was right in front of them. Even after it was announced that he had accepted a 3 year contract at Liverpool quite a few still refused to believe it. I think many fans are maybe too loyal and too trusting. They believe what managers and chairmen say even though they (as a group) have a history of saying one thing and doing the opposite. How many times have we herd chairmen say 'the manager's job is safe' only for them to be sacked a few days later. It's the same here. Even though neither Huw or Brendan put out a statement issuing a categorical denial, most still failed to see what was going on. Guys, you need to learn to read the signs. Start with this very simple one - lots of press speculation, odds tumbling and complete silence from board and manager. No, that doesn't mean all is well and the manager is staying. It actually means all is not well and the manager is going. But I don't think there is an issue with loyalty at all. Brendan has been very open and has always said he'd leave for a bigger club. He even has it written into his contract. How much more obvious do you expect him to make it? Do't you realise that if a manager has a clause in his contract saying he will leave when an offer comes in that he will actually leave. He didn't put the clause in for joke. So he has done what he said. He has managed the Swans until a bigger club came in for him. Nothing wrong with that at all. We all knew it would happen. Well, we all should have known. How much plainer do you expect him to make it. As for the silence over the last few days, well what do you expect, that there will be a blow by blow account of what's happening. These are contract negotiations and need to take place in private. So Brendan has done nothing wrong at all.
"Brendan has done nothing wrong at all" Apart from saying it would be unfair on the fans to leave, before changing his mind and leaving a few weeks later? That seems pretty wrong to me...
Agree completely Scott. If he stays at Liverpool for the next 10 years and makes them world beaters then I'll be proven wrong but I can't see it happening and think he'll be out within 18 months.
As I've said, I just wanted a bit of loyalty and commitment and all I've been shown is I'm too idealistic for this world. I think what's ****ed me off more is the Swans have become a bastion of goodwill and professionalism despite continually having to find new managers etc and I genuinely felt Buck was here for a while. Symptomatic of society I guessed, it's full of moneygrabbing ****ers who'll ultimately end up in London happy to screw over their fellow man for a bigger paycheque.
I admired Rogers from afar on what he has achieved at your club,But 3mil per year on a 3 year deal is like winning the lottery week in week out, and lets be honest money is the new word for loyalty. Unless the owners throw loads of money at the club,I feel Liverpool will struggle, and Rogers will be in line for much abuse from the Liverpool boo boys.
It might be unfair to the fans that he left, but if he stayed it would be unfair to him. And I'm sure he puts himself before the fans, as he should. we're all responsible for our own lives and he made a tough decision. Unfair on the fans maybe, but life's sometime unfair. We just get up and move on. Best to focus on the future than dwell on if he shoudl have left. He's gone, so let's focus on teh next manager. We have an exciting season ahead of us.
How would it be unfair on him if he stayed? He's got a new shiny contract, everybody loves him, complete free reign in terms of executive decisions, in charge of overseeing the new training complex, bigger budget than ever before... yeah sounds like he'd have had a really **** year with us if he'd stayed eh!
I think this is a general problem with fans. They always seem to expect managers to stay for year despite evidence all around them that most managers don't stay very long at all. Some notable exceptions like Fergie of course. But in Brendan's case he even said he would leave when he got an offer and had a cluase in his contract allowing that. There was no real reason to expect him to stay or be surprised that he left. That's how football is these days.
Quality post. Never had an issue with Liverpool before this season but I'm hoping we smash them home and away.
please log in to view this image .....Spot on again Norway, the child filled my inbox up with "please stop it know" garbage too, but he's on borrowed time with me, and if he doesn't stop his snide remarks I will be on his case permanently, without any letup this time, there will be no where to run on here for the little weasel! One horrible spoilt little brat, that has ruined too many threads, well from know on, I'm on his case!.................
Casual I was wrong to think you were a wum, maybe it was down to your objectivity, that seemed to make you look some what detached, from the Swans, but these last couple of days, your post have been very refreshing, and your perspective top draw, whatever you do, don't let anyone push you of this forum, I can see that you will be one very important asset to us on here, and I hope you continue to post, I couldn't agree more with what you have stated here on Scott's thread!............ I can understand where Scott is coming from, and in fairness to the Watford boys, this is what they warned us of originally, but I think that you should take on board some of Casual fans thoughts Scott, as they do give the bigger picture, though there's no denying, Rodgers statements of loyalty, and his love for Swansea city (Martinez again)!.................
Thing is, if everyone thought like that there'd never be any opposition to players leaving etc. If more people thought like I did, perhaps you'd see more players/managers stay with one club for longer.
Scott I think the same way mate, and that's how I felt when Martinez left, but Rodgers never did have the same pull on me, maybe because I wasn't keen on him coming in the first place, as you know, but he did surprise me as our first season with him developed, and it was mainly down to his signings and nothing more, I've not seen any tactical genius though in his football, our boys have just played the way they have always played, the only difference this season, was on a bigger stage, where our passing game could not go unnoticed the world over, and it's because of that, that the media have wrongly concluded that it was all down to Rodgers, and that will be his undoing at Liverpool, his selfish desire will be his downfall, as it was at Reading, it's far too early for him, he should have stayed at least another season, if not two, then he would have been far better prepared, but to be honest, it really doesn't bother me that he's gone, we'll get better that I'm sure of!................
Life goes on. The last three managers have gotten a higher leage position, so here's to a top 10 finish next year.
