SSN are saying that Paul Lambert has resigned from his job at Norwich so he is can take the Villa job. Seems a bit stupid to me.

Maybe he's resigned from Norwich so he can take up the Hull City job. Now that would be really stupid of him. <doh>

Haha I had the same thought! Maybe Steve Bruce will fancy managing the club he used to play for, hope the Allams haven't secretly made him their chosen one.

Bigger budget, more potential at Villa. Norwich and Swansea could both suffer 2nd season syndrome in the PL next year and struggle alot more than this season. Lambert is a rising star and wants to move while he has the chance

Great point. Look at brown. Could have moved to Sunderland when we were flying and now he can't get a job in league 1. You've always got to better yourself and that goes for players too which is a shame at the moment as we have some very good young players

Look at what he's done with a strike force of Holt and Morrison imagine what he could do with Bent and Agbonlahor leading the attack!

Yeah - I can't see him doing much better than he has done at Norwich. No money for him to improve the squad and the strong chance of losing Grant Holt. (Or was it Morrison?). <doh>

I think if both lambert and rodgers leave the clubs will both struggle.

The question is will he have a bigger transfer budget at Aston Villa. Of course this means Martinez is staying at Wigan, so no job for Bruce there.
So two PL clubs looking for new managers - so the decent candidates, which we on this board have linked ourselves to, will be appointed by them. Hopefullt whoever Papa Allem has chosen will not be approached by the Swansea or Norwich board.

Names like Poyet, Holloway, Dave Jones and Chris Hughton are already being linked with the Swansea / Norwich posts by the bookies (although not Steve Bruce!) Looks like the managerial merry go round is speeding up, folks!

Villa should've kept Ashley Young and played him up front with Darren Bent and Robbie Keane when he was on loan.

A young, bent and keen forward-line would've scared a few of those big strapping centre-backs and no mistake.

Shame for both Swansea and Norwich that they've lost (or likely to lose in the former's case) their managers. Could be tough for them next year though if theyy get the right manager in they might be ok.

Martin O'Neill got Villa into 6th place finish (I think). He wanted funds to challenge for top 4 place but they weren't forthcoming. He thought he had taken Villa as far as he could under the circumstances and resigned.

Wasn't it also to do with selling star players (particularly James Milner) and not spending the money recieved on the team?
