Morning all - Brightening day in bandit country. Just booked 7 flights to Cork for the friendly on the 24th....I need to get the friendlies lined up as I am missing the start of the season with our big family holiday.

H - Barry Bucknell was the original DIY man on the BBC in the late fifties and early sixties. I can just remember him doing his DIY projects wearing a shirt & tie! - very BBC!

Half day today as we are off to Kent to see Mumford & Son tonight in Folkestone - crashing at my sisters place for the night, so will have some fun!

All happening at The Vic with lots of rumours on the back of GT stepping down...I have not heard anything, but my spies are out!

    Have fun!

As for what's going on, there are so many rumours around! I just hope it's good news!

July 24. is odd. I have business trip starting on 26. July and thought I could start a few days early, but I am not sure my managers will be happy if I lose preparing time. I already have events in the week before.

Hornette could you ask any of your pupils from the football club if they know anything.

So what is the matter with going to any town in the UK?

THE Football League started its annual summer conference in Vilamoura, Portugal, today

It is held annually to ratify the memberships of each club in the Championship, League One and League Two for the forthcoming season.

Is Vilamoura a golf resort as these people never have interests in football.

Because they wouldn't be able to spend as much fans' money on themselves if they held it in Watford.

The Dales monsoon arrived today and lasted until late afternoon. Still we had a pleasant drive around Swaledale and Arkengarthdale and a lovely pub lunch in a place called Muker. Then drove up to Tan Hill for a pint in the highest pub in England to find it surrounded by jeeps and full of sheep farmers in the middle of a sheep auction. It made interesting watching until another deluge drove us back to the car. Thence to Hawes to buy two sorts of Wensleydale and some local sheep's cheese and Yorkshire parkin to bring home, so not such a bad day at all...

Woohoo. I am joyous. My daughter has just slept through the whole night for the first time. The chill of fear ran down my spine as soon as I wrote that so I had to go and check that she was still breathing. It's not simple being a parent.

This may be my last post for a while as I go to South Africa in the early hours of tomorrow morning and London 3 days later. The trip is now beginning to make me nervous. In South Africa I stay with one of the children of the people who fostered me and offered to adopt me when I was a child. That is a weird feeling. They could have been family but I don't know if I have anything in common with them. There are some white South Africans that I wouldn't want to know. (There are also some Black South Africans I wouldn't want to know but I am not likely ever to be invited to stay with them!) Added to that the person I am staying with is Clive Rice, a name that may mean something to older cricket fans. To give a British football analogy for the rest of you - it's like going to stay with Bobby Charlton.

And then there is the conference presentation in London, which is supposed to be the purpose of the trip. I keep forgetting about that but I still need to perform well.

Still these are very minor woes. Nothing lie the worry of who will own WFC by the time I get home

Have a great trip NZ. <ok>

What time will you be flying over rural France so that I can stand outside and give you a wave?

I of course am old enough to remember Clive Rice. Great player of his and any day.
