On his way? Andy Johnson could be moving to brighter climes The former Everton forward's agent, Anthony McFarlane, told Sport360: 'It's something he has firmly been thinking about. 'He is now 31, and he has never been in this situation in his career where he is available on a Bosman.' McFarlane also indicated that Johnson warmed to the idea of the a move abroad. 'His mind is open and he's looking at all his options, both here in England and abroad. He is keen on a new challenge and very interested in a move to the UAE provided the offer is right. 'He's married, he's got two kids and a move to the UAE would provide a nice lifestyle and a new experience for AJ and his family.' Higher profile: Diego Maradona (left) took the Al-Wasl job this year Sunderland's Asamoah Gyan baffled the then manager Steve Bruce by ditching the Premier League to move to Al Ain last summer. The newly crowned Champions are also keen on landing Johnson, but other clubs have also been mooted. McFarlane, however, would not specify where the former England international was going. 'There have been no concrete offers as such at this moment in time, but there has been strong interest from a number of clubs in the gulf area, including a couple from the UAE,' he said. Johnson will also consider a potential move to China, the USA or he may yet stay in England. 'First and foremost it is for footballing reasons and secondly it has to be right for his family, McFarlane added. 'He is going to go somewhere where his children and wife can settle quickly, where there are English speaking schools, a good quality of life and where he can enjoy his football and enjoy family life.' As well as the arrival of Asamoah Gyan arriving in the Emirates, Argentine legend Diego Maradon has taken the manager's job at Al Wasl. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...iddle-East-striker-prepares-leave-Fulham.html GREEDY ****ERS, NOW PLEASE TELL ME ITS ABOUT THE LOVE OF FOOTBALL???????????????????????????????
Why shouldn't they chase the money? If I was offered a higher paid contract elsewhere, I would jump at it. The same applies here. The argument that they already have a shed load of cash does not work. It is all relative and a few million in the bank to them is nothing in the grand scheme of things.
So basically, they will have no work in the future, priced the fans out of the game, end of football . Start all over again. might be a good thing. I wont see it in my lifetime, but maybe you will.
I completely agree with this, I understand why footballers move for the money. I would if I was offered 200K a week - anybody in the right mind would, especially at the age of 31. What I don't like is footballers who say they love the club, then leave for a 'better club' - alas Bent & Gyan. Those 2 I do not agree about - they are just creedy f**ks
One thing I would advise, because I did it. and regret it.......PLEASE DONT CHASE THE POUND NOTE. ,,,,,,,oh , you will get it. but the cost, is too much to bear in later life. believe me. thats where Im At right now. **** the money, window shopping is better than having, the dreams are still alive. Having, is too ****in easy. and not enjoyable.
Seems fair to me, he's nearing the end of his career, looking for the last big pay day... What would be his alternative...Swindon or someone? Good luck to him.
Money isn't the be all & end all for me. I turned down a job in Clydebank that was offering me an extra 5 grand a year purely for personal reasons.
Sensible, besides the endless tedious rain the Glasgee totty is abysmal please log in to view this image
To be fair to Andy Johnson, he's not ever going to get a chance to a) Sign for a club who will challenge for honours in England, and b) force his way into the England team. So I wouldn't class this guy as a sell out, he's basically been offered stupid money to play football in a hot climate for a few years, which may also prolong his career or at least help his injury status of being a crock. There's a difference to this and Gyan who had the world at his feet 12 months prior to joining Camel Rovers.
As Terry says, Johnson is only gonna slide down the ladder. If someone is mug enough to give him £80-100 a week, he'd be right to snap their mitten off. That's not greed, that's ****ing sense!
