Huh, norwich could be in big trouble if this is true. The guy is a fantastic manager and will be truly hard to replace, they could be looking at relegation if Lambert takes all the young prospects with him as well

Same situation at Swansea too. Both club have built teams in their managers' image. If they take a few of their star players with them, and the clubs can't find similar managers, then it's deep sh!t time.

Yea true, I think Swansea could be in a worse position as well. They really do not have the team especially defensively, Rodgers was doing a good job but I always thought second season syndrome would set in for them particularly so without a good manager as a replacement they could be in a truly **** position

WOW - why would he do that? Because they woul dnot let him talk? Why did he want to talk?

I love it that managers will criticize players for looking to make moves but they are no different.

Too bad for both parties, it looked like they were on a good thing together.

What I don't get is why would you want to go to Villa? They aren't exactly outspending Norwich to put it lightly and do they have a better current squad? thats certainly debatable

Josh, have you compared how many players each club has that played for Leeds United at one time or another?

I can think of at least 5 between them without spending more than 30 seconds on it.

I've thought of it before and its crazy, way more than 5. Off the top of my head I can think of heaps

    Man Citeh
    Tottenham
    Newcastle
    Norwich
    Aston Villa
    Everton
    Blackburn

And thats only in the PL and only off the top of my head

    Howson
    Johnson

    Delph
    Bannon
    Lichaj

But do Bannon and Lichaj really count? We only loaned them, after all.

Did they play for Leeds United?

Lichaj played most of a season, if memory serves me correctly.

I couldn't resist starting a tread on the Narrich forum. They've gloated long enough over the cheapies they've got from us and potentially getting Snoddy for **** all. Doubt if they're as obsessed with us this morning

Never was obsessed and still am not, also not stupid enough to believe we could nick Snoddy for next to nothing <ok>

Back on to the OP, so far the story remains as speculation and if it stays that way I will be very happy. All the same, these last few weeks have been pretty distressing for us poor Budgies. First, all the hype about Grant Holt leaving (noticed how quiet that has gone lads?) and now this! The more I think about it, the more I am convinced it is just more lazy journalism and very little else.

As far as anyone knows, one approach was made weeks ago by Villa and David McNally told them to bugger off. Why then do you suppose it has taken weeks for this story to surface? Has Lambert all of sudden become unhappy at being denied talks with a bunch of Americans whose footballing knowledge is highly questionable? I just don't see it, if he was unhappy he would have been unhappy weeks ago and it would not have taken this long to surface, of that I am pretty sure.

All 6 fingers on each hand are crossed he stays but if their is any truth in this story, and he decides to leave, good luck to him and hopefully we will a suitable manager to keep us 1 division apart for another few seasons

To be honest after his interview on Sky and getting all moody when questioned about both his future and Holts I expected him to leave, the signs are there and if not this time when, later in the season when the next job becomes available?

To be honest I didn't expect it to be Villa, I see them as Premier League plodders, why he would leave his comfort zone at Norwich for a new bed at Villa leaves me scratching my head.

IF you are going to lose him then far better to do so now while you have plenty of time to secure a new manager and give him a chance to bring in a couple of new faces.

I am slightly inclined to agree. There does appear to be something not quite right at the club all of a sudden, yet just days before the Holt thing blew up everything appeared to be just lovely.

It's got you and me puzzled mate, seems an odd move IF it happens but who knows. Maybe he can turn the club round and get them back in to the top half of the league, they have the players to do it.

Fully agree, if he wants to go then now is the best time for the club to get a replacement and dip in to the transfer market.

Typical Lambert, suprised he hadn't left earlier. Think he's going to develop a reputation for this soon enough.
