Can't quite go that far Breezy but I love your Karma! People forget what we owe Rodgers and are lashing out. Some have been waiting for the opportunity and are taking great delight in going for it.

    Such a shame.

That should read "The opportunity to manage a team like Liverpool is what most managers USED TO dream about" They are no longer a major force in English football, never mind European football. It is a poisoned chalice as the current England Manager and one of their all time legends have found out.

While of course I'm disappointed to see him leave, I can understand his timing. It's better (and certainly easier) to move on when your managerial career is on an upwards path, as his certainly is. We excelled last season - may not repeat it next season. If we struggled next season and finished 15th or lower would his chances have gone of moving to a bigger club?

But he ultimately didn't get the job though, did he. But I take your point.

I think the situation this time around is slightly different to when he left us.

He left us before achieving anything of note. Malky Mackay and Sean Dyche were both at the club when Boothroyd left, and have both proven that they were capable of keeping us up. The achievements he claims are spotting Danny Graham and Don Cowie, but we will never know how much was him and how much was our scouting department. And unlike in this instance, he didn't leave us for a club with an illustrious history. To a man we were actively rooting for him to fail at Reading, something which I don't think will be the case with Swansea and Liverpool.

There are of course some similarities: he made his infamous "integrity" attack at the media two weeks before joining Reading, and even though I don't think he could have taken you much higher, I agree that he has probably left Swansea at least one season too soon. A better career move would have been to prove that he was immune to second season syndrome before parting ways. Another similarity is that the Liverpool squad right now isn't much better than Swansea's (although there should be enough money from the American owners and player sales for BR to change that).

Sounds like it has come as a bit of a shock to your system Scott! But you make some true and accurate points, there's no denying that, I'm not surprised though at all this, I will always remember the Watford boys coming on here before we signed him warning us, and they were right, a leopard doesn't change it's spots, while it's a tough one for us again, I'm sure our great Board of Directors will have this all in hand, and I'm sure that Jenkins will come up trumps as he always does, for me I thank Rodgers for not messing around to much with our Martinez legacy, but will not wish him anything, and I'm pleased he's gone, was never really happy we signed him, I always wanted Geo Zola, or De Matteo, at the time, and Rodgers was a big disappointment for me. Having said all that, he did surprise me with the way he kept things ticking over, and he had the good sense, not to tinker too much. he's gone now, into our history, we move on, and I will look forward to his replacement, in Jenkins and the Swansea board I trust............ <ok>

He did turn it down because the owners wouldn't commit not to having a DOF. When they spoke to Rodgers they realised that this was also going to be a stumbling block and changed their stance as he was actually their first choice according to the Guardian anyway.

Rodgers won't get a DOF above him.

I see Phill is spouting the 'never wanted him anyway' ****.

    So no Rodgers=No Sinclair=No 26 goals=No promotion.

So much hatred from you. Unsurprisingly.

Pascoe and cris davies( analyst) to follow him out of the club. Steve clark will stay at Liverpool !! 2 coaches ? i would rate Clarke higher than rosy cheeks, that might be an intresting dynamic

I can't understand that, Phil. The guy gets us promoted to the Premier League and then finish 11th in our first season there. I don't get it.

This is not an "i told you so" or a haha post, just to be clear.

It is a horrid feeling to be told that he is loyal to your club and that he operates with integrity. I do feel sorry for you guys, the club were performing well above the expectations of many and had a real chance of becoming an established premiership club. I just hope whoever replaces Judas can do a better job and show him what he missed out on. He has committed managerial suicide by joining Liverpool, now i just hope he fails as badly as he did at Reading after leaving us.

Best of luck for the future guys and gals.

Who cares? Most of us are glad to see the back of Pascoe. Some are even glad to see the back of a manager who did so little for our Club. He was crap wasn't he? What did he ever do for us? (Life of Brian fans take note).
