Dudley's most famous son: Nuff said. They actually have a former Man Utd player called Duncan Edwards (who ever he was), Sam Allardyce, Sue Lawley, Norman Pace and of course Dorothy Round.
The Scottish FA is an absolute mess, the worst it has ever been. The two men in charge are both English and one of them is called Doncaster. Get them to **** and get people who understand the game in Scotland in would be the first thing I would change.
The UK economy is in the worst mess it has ever been courtesy of the profligacy of some Scottish ****er called Brown. Is that better, boab? That's tongue-in-cheek by the way - it is irrelevant what nationality he is. he was just ****e. You really are starting to sound more and more extreme - Scotland for the Scottish only. No immigration. No English. No-one other than Scots in top jobs. Arm extended, Sieg He.....?
For exactly what reason? I really am intrigued, because I have not heard a good rational reason other than "little scotlander" argument so far
Gave lots of basic reasons, it's just you may not like them or agree with them. I'll tell you what, how about Manchester became in charge of everything to do with Leeds. The Leeds people only had limited rights to what Manchester wanted & even if they didn't vote in its major, if the people of Manchester did, then that is what you would get Leeds could not run its economy, armed forces, legal systems or tax and had to accept a restricted budget from what they actually paid into the Manchester government. The army generals would make sure it was the people of Leeds who went into dangerous zones first, so that they got killed, before any of their own lads were blown to pieces, oh and by the way, the people of Leeds didn't want to be in the war or any war in the first place. Leeds would be the capital of all nuclear weapons for Manchester, so that its own people had a chance to escape any incidents. Oil was found in Yorkshire, but the money from it would be kept in Manchester with only a small percentage given to the people of Leeds. The people of Leeds vote Labour at the next election and get the BNP (with only 2 people in the whole of Leeds voting for them) as their government, due to their popularity in the Lancashire area. Your stuck with them for at least 5 years. You don't recognise the royal family, but you have to pay for them. You even have to pay your council tax so that one of them can have a nice wedding to a captain of another countries rugby team. The people of Leeds recognise Richard Whitely as being the face of Leeds and only 2% voted for the Queen, yet you have no option but to have the Queen, even though very very few people in your area want to keep her or any member of the royal family. The media in Yorkshire is now run in London or Manchester and hates any suggestions of Leeds having any more rights. You lose any actual debate in favour of nonsense about local MP's making mistakes, again there is nothing you can do about it. The Leeds economy can't grow to its potential as the Manchester government exclude the rights to such action on various formats, so that they have control of investments and how the economy is run. The people of Leeds can't vote to get their own economy as they haven't really got a voice, due to it being controlled in Manchester. And if you fancy getting away from Leeds for a little while, then hard luck, because the Manchester government have increased the tax for you to fly out of Leeds Bradford by 75%, so that you pay at least £175 per person more than anyone flying out from Manchester. The airport owners say it's the fault of the national government & the local economy and environment suffers due to people driving to other airports that are cheaper to fly from. When you do fly, then you will have to stop off at London, so that you spend further money in the airport and help the London economy. Leeds wishes to be more human in its service to the people and cut the drink driving limit and reduce speed that cars can travel at, the people of Manchester don't like that and decide to increase the amount people can drink and drive and increase the speed limit, more people will be killed, but what does that matter as it is the right of anyone to decide how much they can drink and drive and how fast they should go, forgetting the right of the people of Leeds to be safe on the roads and be clear of all drink drivers. Just so that the message is clear, the Manchester government limit the powers of the Yorkshire Police so that this new law can be passed quicker and less action taken. I could go on and on and on.... I would suggest you read the SNP website: http://www.snp.org/ and click on Vision, I'm sure you will come away with a better understanding of how many people in Scotland (including the many from England, Ireland, Africa, Poland etc) feel. Independence is about making Scotland more successful. At its most basic, it is the ability to take our own decisions, in the same way as other countries. Scotland is a society and a nation. No one cares more about Scotland's success than the people who live here and that, ultimately, is why independence is the best choice for our future. With independence the people of Scotland can work together to make Scotland a more ambitious and dynamic country. Scotland could create an environment where its existing and new private industries can grow more easily. It would have the economic levers to create new jobs and take full advantage of its second, green energy windfall. And instead of many young people having to leave Scotland to fulfil their ambitions they would be able to stay and take advantage of the increased opportunities here. Scotland will be able to address the priorities of people in Scotland, from better state pensions to universal free childcare. Scotland could do even more to lead the world in areas like renewable energy and tackling climate change, and play our part in creating a more peaceful and stable world. Independence will allow the people of Scotland to make Scotland a better place to live. Independence will mean a strong, new relationship between Scotland and the rest of the UK. It will create a partnership of equals - a social union to replace the current political union. That means, on independence day, we'll no longer have a Tory government, but the Queen will be our Head of State, the pound will be our currency and you will still be watching your favourite programmes on the BBC. As members of the EU there will be open borders, shared rights, free trade and extensive cooperation. The big difference will be that Scotland's future will be in our own hands. Instead of only deciding some issues here in Scotland, independence will allow us to take decisions on all the major issues. That is the reality of independence in this interdependent world. The United Nations Charter enshrines the right of peoples to self-determination, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights also guarantees peoples' right to change nationality; the UK is a signatory to both documents. My opinion is that every country has the right to fully govern itself and the people of that country should control what happens, as my country is Scotland, then this is what I wish for. I am also a republican and would wish to see the end of the royal family in Scotland, this is my own opinion and not that of the SNP or the Scottish independence movement
Take what Boab says about groups of people being misgoverned and represented without their say-so, then apply it to the individual. Anarchy in.
Switch "Manchester" for "London" and you have just described exactly what happens. But I don't think you have your figures quite right. In exactly the same way you derogatorily called me a Daily Mail reader, it sounds like you have just swallowed a political pamplet without questioning any of the "facts" inside
My figures are correct, of that I am sure. I expected you to respond with "switch Manchester for London and you have just described exactly what happens", so the next stage is to change this from Manchester to Brussels. Now remember this is not what is currently happening in Europe, but respond as if it was. My aim is to try and get you to feel what it is like for another country to govern you, when hardly anyone voted for the government that is in power. p.s. I am a member of the SNP and have been for many many years.
If Scotland become independent all it will be doing is switching centralised control from London to Brussels, and Westminster tends towards devolution where Brussels tends towards centralisation.
Boab, this was all brought to light a few years ago when there was talk of the EU going Federal with decisions for all countries being taken in Brussels. There was a right old public hoohah, and the press went mental. The main outcry was centred in the London areas, with a mantra of 'what would Brussels know about our ecomony - they're hundreds of miles away'! They missed the irony of the fact that Aberdeen is twice the distance from London as Brussels is, and yet there is far more knowledge in Brussels about the UK economy/requirements than there is in London about the Aberdeen economy/requirements! And it shows in Westminster decisions! Always has, no matter what party has been in power. for example, when the London housing market overheats, interest rates are raised across the whole country to counter it. Not the best decision for someone trying to sell a house in Cumbria, far less Scotland. I too have been a member of the SNP (not much use down here for the last 22 years!), and believe strongly in Independence (and Republicanism too, as it happens). I also studied Economics and know a damn sight more than I let on about how it would work. It would. Pure & simple. Might take a bit of adjustment, but hey! I laugh at the people who say the Scottish economy would not work. They usually live in a country where their government debt is of gargantuan proportions, but they still argue that Scotland should be able to break even. The arrogance and ignorance of these people is unbelievable. Rant over. Don't mention this in the pub if I'm there, anyone. You won't escape me in incredible bore mode.
