Brendan Rodgers and Swansea City have had many plaudits over the last season for their style of play.

Will Liverpool supporters accept the patient passing style that Rodgers brings to Anfield? As Liverpool fans we are used to a fast attacking style of play and the last man to try and change this didn't fair well.

Swansea play a lot like Barcelona, putting a lot of faith in the players and putting a huge emphasis on patient possession of the football.

It seems to me that we are going to be playing a very different style of football and that we need to get on board with this. What are your thoughts?

Good evening all swans fan in peace. would just like to say congratulations if you do get buck you will most definitely enjoy the style of football that he pushes, the only thing that could be an issue is the fact that when he came to us we were set up as a Barcelona style without the cutting edge also had no pressure and really all the time he has been with.us there hasn't been any pressure object him.

this i feel will not be the case with yourselves, as you are hungry for success and i think he could really.push you.on but be patient it will come.

Good luck for the new season and please don't strip our club bare STID

It seems to be that Carroll, Adam Carragher could all be surplus to requirements. All not great at playing the ball along the floor, but i am looking forward to next season under him

TBH as long as we win games I dont think it really matters how we play. You really think that Chelsea fans are bothered about how lucky and the **** tactics they employed to beat Barca and then Munich in order to win the CL, or is it more likely that they celebrate the fact they Won it.

Whilst its nice to play pretty and attractive football, it doesnt always work. Arsenal havent won anything for 7yrs but are always praised for style of play.

Winning is the most important thing, if we can do that with the tactics used at Swansea then good.

I'm happy to give him a chance but he needs to be well supported by the owners because it's clear that we need reinforcements in order to adapt to that style of play (two quick and tricky widemen for a start)

Also I wouldn't say that Carroll would be surplus to requirements, especially if we can bring in the right players to support him.

ermmmm.... the swans are just not that good. comparing them to barca?

swansea did well being tight defensively, made their home ground a fortress (a real one) and played some nice stuff going forward..... the style of play will be whatever needs to be played to suit what he's got available.

Swansea played some attractive football and failed to score enough, getting a GD of -7. Isn't that one of the cudgels used to beat Kenny with? Swansea also lost the same number of league games at home as us.

Passing football with high pressing was utilised by Rafa and Kenny. It's nothing new at Anfield. There is a debate to be had over whether the English game is capable of adapting and whether a slow possession style can succeed in the league. How much possession have Arsenal had since they last won anything? Didn't we have more possession than them when we played them off the park at Anfield but lost? Inter won the CL without the ball, just as Chelsea did. So it means very little to play in a Barca style unless you're Barca.

I think we'll be playing similar football to what we saw in Kenny's first few months here (second stint, post Hodgson).
Barca's style of play is fantastic, but they have no plan B. All of their squad is geared towards that one way of playing, and that's why they failed to beat Chelsea this year, and Real in the league.

I'd like to hope that Rodgers will continue the possession, pressing style of football that worked well for us before, but always have a plan B in mind. With Carroll in the squad, I think we'd be silly not to make use of him. I have high hopes for Rodgers, really looking forward to who he brings in this summer and how our team will setup next season.

The difference being our wage bill was about 10x greater than Swansea's, so was our transfer budget.

And its not "Barca" style. Teams keeping the ball has been around since football began. And every winning team does it. No team that wins their domestic league gets less possession than their opponents.

When they played us they were toothless upfront, a lot of time with the ball, great, but when we got it we punished them and even though they had it more than us they were not able to respond in kind
