If Rodgers did go to Liverpool, it would eliminate Lambert going there for a good 3 seasons minimum:

Scenario 1: Rodgers is a success, they wouldn't need a new manager

Scenario 2: Complete horror show, don't qualify for Europe, the fans will bay for blood, and the board would have to be suicidal not to employ a PROVEN internationally experienced manager, with a pedigree from leading european clubs

Besides, it would put Swansea on a slippery slope > below us in the table (perhaps)

    WIN-WIN for us Canaries.

thing is, i like rodgers - i don't rate him as highly as many but i do think he's a good manager, but going to liverpool will probably break him. if louis van gaal is to be his director of football i give it 6-12 months before he takes over the reigns from rodgers... its as inevitable as hutchings taking over from jewell <laugh>

He has done a decent job but as you know from our two games, when things are going wrong he can`t change the game plan. You overrun us in those two games & he still stuck to patient passing, which was`nt working.

My feeling is that it would be scenario 2. This is not bitterness, just an observation over the last two years where he refused to listen to what was happening on the pitch and stuck to the same formula all the time. That is how we got beat so easily in some games.

It`s possible it might put us on a slippery slope, but we`ve been down this road a few times recently & we have`nt done so badly.

Anyway, hope you don`t have to go through the same thing we`re going through now. Best of luck guys.

He'll be back at swansea in six months. There's no way the Liverpool fans will accept him

What are the odds on Swansea's new manager being Martinez. That would not surprise me at all! But like Supers said Poyet could get in there too.

Martinez surprised me when he said he'd listen to Villa after not getting the Liverpool job! Talk about a kick in the teeth to Dave Whelan and the Wigan fans!

I like Martinez but he has made it pretty obvious he wants away, will be a bit awkward if he can't get any of the jobs he has been favourite for, wonder what Wigan fans make of it all.

see now people! There were people that said that Lambert should have come out like Rodgers and "Pledged his loyalty"

Rodgers pledged he'd stay and now he's scarpering. He looks like a complete dick to the swansea fans now in light of what he's done for them.

Really well said Dave and I couldn't agree more on both points. He's obviously second choice and my feeling is that Liverpool should have gone for a manager such as AVB or similar.

I guess Swans fans are a bit p155ed off after he'd just signed a contract extension with them!!!!

I imagine Swans fans are a bit pissed off, but... the compensation for this basically covers the Sigurdsson signing!

Don't think the Sigurdson signing is complete yet so not sure he will be going after all

Also, if the £4-5mil compo thats being suggested is all they've got, the Swans must feel mighty pissed off. For a Premier League manager, with massive potential, and with years left to run on his contract, it really doesn't seem a lot, especially when you look at what they paid for Downing!

I feel pretty sorry for Swansea, they've played decent football, made a few headlines and now appear to be paying the price for the publicity. I hope they bring someone decent in as a replacement and stay up.
