no he didnt create us but he took us to the next level - he is flawed but he is learning and his take on British football IS revolutionary, the blueprint for the future IMO
Gutted he's gone, but this happens to us quite a lot. We'll get through it. I honestly Buck would have learned his lesson after jumping ship from Watford to Reading. Everything was already in place for him here, just a few tweeks from The Jackett, Martinez, Sousa legacy. He's not going to have that at Liverpool. And probably less time than he got at Reading to change things.
Spot on, Norway. I can't wait to see him sweating buckets on MOTD trying to explain where it is all going wrong. Vindictive? Too right!! The first real chance that came his way he dumped on us, caring little about the chaos it would create regarding Siggy, other transfer targets and our pre season preparation. We are in a mess, make no mistake!! Had he given us just one more season to establish ourselves, he could have left with our thanks and our blessing and been an honorary Jack for life. Now he will be regarded by many as a snake in the grass who used us as a floor mop. Yes we had two GREAT years under his stewardship and we can and do thank him for that. But it is a two way thing. We were at least as good for him as he was for us. He was nothing when we picked him up from the scrapheap, a flop who had been kicked out by Reading having done his first dirty deed against Watford. We gave him his chance with a talented squad of footballers that dovetailed perfectly with his methods, and, I feel because of that, irrespective of his own ambitions, he owed us at least one more season. WITHOUT US THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO LIVERPOOL OFFER. If you crash and burn, Buck, I will be shedding no tears.
None so blind as them that won't see, you call him revolutionary ??? I've heard it all now, you clearly don't know your football! I'll talk to you when he's kicked out of Anfield! Average at best, built up by the bull in the media...............
please log in to view this image .............................. please log in to view this image Top post, and how I see it, will he crash and burn? too right he will, and you better believe it, some of his revolutionery decisions this season were nothing short of schoolboy errors! Brenda slam the door shut behind you love!..............
Hi guys, I feel genuinely sorry for you guys, as he did a good job of keeping you in the Prem, same as PL did for us. I think it's even more galling, as he'd just signed a contract extension to stay at the Liberty. Good luck in finding a suitable replacement and look forward to our renewed battles next season.
´Average at best` - have you been following the Swans!? if so it seems you are the one who knows little about football. you seemed to have a grudge against Rodgers from day one (Brenda tea lady thread?), must have been frustrating for you up until now. ps before you talk about Anfield try reading my comment in full!
Yes skwared, and the ink isn't even dry on that contract!! Shut the door behind you brenda dear.......
Not really, he was intelligent enough to leave the system well alone, all he did was bring in three players, not rocket science what he did, and you go and call that revolutionary! What Martinez did was revolutionary, so get your facts correct, we will move on, and in my view, when the dust has settled, you'll see he's no big loss, the only thing I'm furious about is the timing of this, which as Norway, and Ivor have stated, couldn't be worse, but I'm sure our great Swansea board, will regroup and overcome, and while I wasn't happy with Rodgers coming here at first, I was pleased he had the good sense not to mess about with our superior total football system, now he's gone, we can move to find better, and there are better managers than Rodgers!...............
Both untrue I hope. Pure speculation. Myself and lots of fans are willing to give him time, and the owners should as it's their bloody idea in the first place (instead of Capello, Van Gaal etc).
To be honest I'm not gutted, just disappointed. What irks me is the comment a couple of weeks ago, and saying how no club even league 1 wouldn't give him interviews and didn't want to destroy his career again. Well Brendan I think you have done exactly that. By going to Liverpool you'r passing philosophy will have to be taught to Andy Carroll of all people!!! Can you see him doing what Danny Graham does? I will say thank you for what you have done for our club over that last two years, I just hope this upheaval has a detrimental effect on our PL status. Now what would piss me off is if this upheaval puts Siggy off from signing for us, then I would be a very unhappy Jack.
Pompey fan in peace - your football this season has been a total pleasure to watch and BR must take some credit for that but so do your players - a few years ago you beat us in the cup playing very good football - it's your club's ethos so I think after the initial shock you'll be fine - there are a few decent Managers out there without jobs - as some of you have said Liverpool may be too soon for BR - as an admirer of the football I was looking forward to seeing how 2nd season syndrome would affect you under Rodgers (or not as the case may be). Holloway certainly gets Blackpool playing the right way. Whoever you get best wishes for next season, stay entertaining and vocally the most in tune fans in the Prem.
Thank you Eastney - you are right. Rodgers had the benefit of all the hard work done before him. He is entering a mess at Anfield so he will have to roll his sleeves up and do some donkeywork. I am sure the Liverpool fans will give him PLENTY of time to sort it out...............
If (when ) he comes touting for our players I wonder ow many will be thanking him then for the two years , yes he (allegedly) had a buy out clause in his contract of 5 million (if thats true why then are the two clubs in discussion on compensation) regardless if it is 5 million the damage caused if he does come in for e.g. Joey far outweighs the compensation paid for his departure .The existing squad at Liverpool isn't set up to play his preferred style so he'll either come on a raid (likely) or bring in some from their Academy (unlikely)
My first post on this. Rodgers had the chance to make himself great by staying with us. In a year's time he'll be out. Probably before. A bad move for Liverpool and an even bigger one for him imo. That said, we owe Rodgers a great deal for making some influential signings that were pivotal to getting us promoted (Sinclair mainly) and for effectively delivering the dream. However, those of us who follow the Swans know that the foundations were laid by at least three or four managers before Rodgers even though he was the guy who successfully brought it all together. Whilst I can't quite bring myself to wish him success (he is after all going to a rival) I think that those turning on him forget that without him it's unlikely we would have made the Prem. Sinclair came because of him. Take away Sinclair's goals and where would we have been? Not promoted, that's where. So respect, Mr Rodgers, but in 6 months time when you feel those rather ruthless American owners breathing down your neck you'll just be another chapter in our history and we would have moved on with another young and hungry manager and doing great things again in the Prem. Oh, and Gus Poyet for me.
Feeling a little empty at present. Will take a few hours and gather my thoughts. In the meanwhile, we move on STID PS great to here from you again Jager
yes Rodgers had the foundations there when he arrived but hes taken the total football philosophy to another level - no other team in Britain has done that so for me its revolutionary. he made some good (and a few bad) signings but the loanees proved crucial - Borini, Siggy. he will be a hard act to follow believe me and we might have to look abroad to maintain the style but I too have faith that Huw and the board will do the right thing - we have been steadily been getting better, long may it continue!
