I'm just wondering why the club hasn't issued a statement , the online papers are full of us but no comment from the club !

Very odd. It's just been released that Rodgers has just told Swansea that he wants the Liverpool job but hasn't been offered it (Sky Sports News). Did they really have an hour and a half meeting between Rodgers and Jenkins and that's all that's been released? I get the feeling that the live news shows are trying their best to sensationalise this story. Not saying he isn't going, or that anything is being 'made up' by the news, but the process of his signing for Liverpool is not quite going to be as quick as is being made out. I might be wrong though!

There is nothing to report as yet, normally these things are synchronised by both clubs, so until he accepts the job there is nothing that can be said I would think.

Agree with that valleyswan. Just strange how the guys at Sky Sports hold their ears as they reveal breaking news... They never actually stated that Rodgers and Jenkins had ended their meeting. Have they got a guy standing by the door listening through a glass cup or something? Nothing seems to be making sense to me at the moment...

I have just been to both the Swans and Liverpool club web sites. There is no announcment on either. Not a word. This is all media presumption, supposition etc.

Is there actually an offer / acceptance between BR and Liverpool or not. Is it dependent on Swansea accepting some contract release clause related offer from Liverpool or not. If we don't hear officially from either club at the latest first thing tomorrow I would doubt all this.

I've still got a sneaky feeling we might hang onto him. BBCs main sports page story is saying that Rodgers has agreed a 3 year deal with Liverpool. Sky Sports News is reporting that Liverpool haven't even offered him the job, but he wants to go. So inconsistent across the media.

The reason you have heard nothing from the club, is because Jenkins is furious, and has gone off to cool down, other board members are none too happy either, we have a massive pre season of work now thanks to 'Rodger the dodger', so lets get behind our board, and lets hope we can get to keep all our players, including Siggy, as for Brenda, can't wait till she crashes and burns up at Liverpuds!................. <ok>

How can you possibly blame Huw here? He backed Rodgers. He gave him money to break our transfer record with Graham, and we're on the verge of paying £6.8million for 1 player! Or we were anyway.

Brendan has made this decision himself. He has clearly been keeping it to himself until the past few days where he's obviously brought his interest in the job to Huw. He'll be on better money, literally a short ferry ride from Northern Ireland, and managing a massive club. Can't blame him, but that doesn't mean you have to blame Huw. Huw will be the man appointing our next superstar manager. And my money is on him unearthing yet another gem.

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has said the club are sorry to see Brendan Rodgers go:

Although we are very disappointed to lose such a talented, young British manager, we didn't wish to stand in his way.

As always at Swansea City, we want people working here who are fully committed to the task ahead.

We wish Brendan every success in the future.

We will always remain good friends and we thank him for all his hard work and passion at this football club over the past two years.

We shall now refocus and quickly start the process of finding his replacement to continue the great work Brendan has carried out at this football club.

The statement also states that the clubs are currently negotiating compensation. I thought the contract had a release clause that stipulated the compensation to be received, otherwise where did the 5M pound number come from - what's to negotiate. It's clearly not over yet.

BTW, Liverpool have still released no statement. There may be all sorts of conditions hanging over this. I wonder how wiley HJ can be on this one.

Now Huw Jenkins fault, he has been played! He is not perfect but has been let down by someone he thought he would have around for another year. Never would expect Rogers to be there for ever, and he has jumped too soon as many posters have said. This job will be a poison chalice and he will have to rise or fall by it. He will not be ready for it, once in a life time or not!

I for one am hoping that we don't try going for the rookie option at this point. It's worked for us so far, but I don't want us riding our luck in a more difficult second season. I hope the compensation we're getting will be used towards attracting a more established manager to help secure the Siggy deal and keep us up.
This could actually work in our favour with the right man. I was getting the feeling that we were starting to get sussed out, a new manager with new ideas and a fresh start may not be such a bad thing...I hope

An interesting statistic is that we haven't sacked a manager since 2007 (Kenny Jackett), but we've had three managers during that time, and are about to appoint a fourth. Three managers without sacking any of them. Are we setting some sort of record here? Even League 2 clubs seem to sack managers willy nilly...

I am really feeling for you guys tonight, im totaly surprized at these developments and now alittle nervous of the situation we find our selves in with Villa learing over our shoulders.
I really hope Jenkins appoints another up and coming manager for you who will carry on the good work that Rodgers has put in place.
<ok> see you all at CR.

Our last 3 managers have taken us to a higher level each time. Each time they left we regrouped and got a better manager and a stronger side. We can handle it quite well by now, and HJ is the most experienced chairman in this respect. So what would devistate other clubs makes us stronger.
