Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers is expected to be confirmed as the new Liverpool boss in the next 48 hours.

The clubs are understood to be discussing compensation for the 39-year-old, with Swansea likely to recieve a compensation payment of between £4m and £5m.

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez had been in contention after meeting with owner John W Henry in Miami last week.

But attention has since switched back to Rodgers.

I've just had a text saying he is off, I've kept quiet through all this as I didn't see any point in all the speculation, it's the nature of football unfortunately.
I've no idea what this does to the Gylfi deal, as nothing is signed what' is there to stop Reading snapping him up, or him even heading off the Liverpool?
Poyet would be my choice replacement!

Please don't tell me you're still in denial. Original merged thread is speculation about Brendan leaving. This is one is to say he's really gone. People might have missed the announcement if it was buried on page 17.

Also one extra about next manager. Hopefully we can stick to the subject and not turn it into something else.

Do you know how many threads were put up when Martinez left? I don't remember you complaining then. So grow up and move on. Brendan's gone, end of story. Sad, but we have to concentrate on the future and not dwell on the past.

Grow up will you. Brendan's gone. Or are you still waiting for the official announcement? I don't think you're on their list of priorities right now.

    Time to move on copperhead.

I'm gutted that it seems that Brendan is going. He's been an absolutely brilliant manager for us and definitely the best ever manager in my life time! I wish he could have stayed at least another season to ensure that we're stable! I wish him the best of luck for his career at Liverpool but I'm still clinging onto a small hope that it's all rubbish and Huw will come out again and say he's staying!

Guardiola is down to 50/1, he'll be odds on by the morning :D I'm sure whatever we were paying Rogers, plus the 5 million we're getting could attract him...?
seriously though, wouldn't Liverpool have been better off offering it to a more acclaimed manager? They are taking a gamble with Rogers that could fook us and him up and he's not going to come cheap by the time they've paid us off, so wouldn't that money have been better spent on a top European manager?

He may be a top manager but their squad is sh!te. You can sculpt a turd into the Venus de Milo but it's still a turd. :)
