It is by no means a done deal and may never happen if Buck believes the Swans have a great future - especially after spending £7m on Sigurdsson. However the bookies believe it is likely that Buck will leave the Swans for Liverpool. Should that happen do you think the Swans would court Malky? If so, would the owners let them and would Malky go?

Fair questions as no matter what we bluster on here, they are a good club, have a solid financial base, have shown they are willing to spend for the right player and have a track record of employing young, forward thinking managers.

It would cost them a few bob but they would be charging Liverpool anyway.

Cardiff & Swans fans, sensible comments only please.
 
It's possible and he's not been here long enough to have a massive amount of loyalty with regards to moving to our local rivals. I can imagine he likes the challenge he has ahead of himself here though. Wage-wise would they pay him much more?

I think if he were to go anywhere it would be to a more established PL team. If he does well here over the next couple of seasons I could see somebody like Everton snapping him up if Moyes were to go to a bigger job.
 
Would Rodgers go ? I think so Liverpool are a big 6 club He would be silly not to.

Would the Swans court Malkey ? Unlikely IMO I think they'll go after a foreign manager they've done well before

Would our owners let him go ? I think that depends on the rebranding etc.

Would Malky go to Swansea ? Can't see that Swansea have done well but not much between bottom 10 of the Prem and top 6 of the Championship. If Malky thinks Cardiff can do well with his team I doubt he'd want to take Rogers team on.
 
Start looking for loyalty in the modern game and you'll have a long, lonely, and ultimately fruitless search. Plenty talk the talk, but when the big money and better prospects come along 99.99999% will take the offer.
TBH though how many of us would truely be any different if presented the same options?

If our investment plans are shelved then I could see MM leaving, if he's going to get the money he needs to get us out of the division we may be able to keep him from leaving for the Prem this year.
 
First of all, I'm surprised that Liverpool are courting Rodgers at all, and I just wonder if it's a tactic to persuade their real target. With all due respect to BR, as I respect him as a man and as an upcoming manager, I think his success at Swansea has been a little bit on the coat tails of Mr Martinez who introduced the current culture at the Liberty. This does not in anyway undervalue the effort he put in to keep that culture going and deliver two hugely successful seasons for our neighbours. I do however have doubts based on his experience at Reading, and I wonder if he would be able to produce a new culture at any club let alone Liverpool with all the inherent demands. The future will probably see BR develop into the man who could take on the challenge, but for now, I have my doubts.

I said yesterday on another thread that MM could become part of the knock on effect of managerial movement in the Prem. IF, BR was to go, I think MM would be a candidate for the Liberty job and I don't think that there would be too much furore from the Swans fans. However, I'm not sure HJ would go for him at such a critical time for the Swans.

To be honest, my concerns (which are quite low) are more to do with events at Villa Park and Wigan.
 
Good points all although Breezey with one arm, chewing the other, is not an image I want to consider.

While Wigan are Prem, are they that much bigger club than us? Also, perenial relegation battlers and a selling club. However, Villa could be a real threat although potentially a bit of a poisoned challice as well.

We can only wait and see what happens down the road.
 
Malky would do a good job for us,problem is with Bucks relatively limited experience i'm not sure liverpool would be a good move for him or Martinez,i know Liverpool have been in the doldrums for a few years now ,but they are still a huge organisation worlwide,and the owners would expect fairly quick results and the expectations of the fans and the owners /backers would be immense and could be detrimental to up and coming managers like Rodgers and Martinez.I'd put malky in that bracket too
 
It's still only BBC talk at the mo but if he wants to go it would be hard to stop him.

Agree about it being detrimental to up and coming managers but would you turn it down ?

If he goes, good luck to Buck who has done a terrific job for you.

Early days I know and it could still not happen, but apart from Malky who else could be in the frame for the Swans job? If someone else gets Chelski, how would you guys fancy Di Matteo?

Well Villa is a bigger club, and while Wigan probably are smaller, the Swans would probably be about the same as us if they stay up and increase ground capacity. In all three cases, they are in the most watched domestic league in the world and as such, their managers are in the biggest shop window in the footballing world.

Couldn't blame BR if he did go but like bongo and others have said, its a massive gamble for him. While Swansea may not be the biggest club, they are certainly on the up largely due to BR's philosophy and a few more seasons at the Liberty could do him the world of good in his career. 6 months at Anfield and he could be looking for another job.

Be interesting to see how this one pans out.
 
I am suprised that BR is on his way to the Poison chalice that is Liverpool F.C they are basically an outlet for the Boston Red Sox and have to adhere to their policies, thats why king Kenny got the Sack as his treatment and backing for Suarez went down like a bucket of sick in the good old U.S of A. The Red Sox were plagued with racism in the past and it took them ages to clean up thier act, just for Kenny to put them back 5 years. Politics my friends. How will BR handle all of the big ego's and more importantly how will he handle another situation if any that Dalgliesh had to deal with. Suarez should have been sacked like a dog, but KD didnt have the guts.
