We lost some players for virtually the entire season.
Dawson and Huddlestone were badly missed and our options were restricted as a result.

    wow... very interesting LS.

quite amazed how 3 of the top 4 sides happen to be at the bottom of the table, yet Chelsea who had minimal problems... finished 6th!!

the rotation is definitely a major factor LS, without a doubt. over the course of the season, the amount of games take their toll, especially with all the cup competitions thrown in. - Christmas/New year is a bloody ridiculous time of year. I seem to remember a few teams this season (including us) having about 5 games in 15 days? (or something like that). - It also begs the question as to whether there should be a break for a couple of weeks perhaps?

There a couple of other things for me. - Age and Luck.

one of the obvious reasons that ours isn't going to be great, is due to Ledley's record.- that is bound to bring up our average. Not only are his knees bad, but he's getting older too. Then there's gallas who seems to be frequently plagued by little injuries. - again, he's getting on.

Then we had Thudd out for the entire season, and Daws out for most of it. - but long term injuries are just bad luck

the thing that bugs me, is that our players come back from an injury, then they are out again with the same problem for say... another 4 weeks. were they ready to come back? or are our medial team just not up to scratch? are they pushed back into the side because we need them, due to harry's unwillingness to rotate, when they clearly aren't ready? It's these smaller issues that are the problem for me. VDV and Lennon seemed to constantly have the same problems over and over again. - highly frustrating and something we need to resolve.

Signing Michael Owen and Owen Hargreaves probably didn't help your cause, Lidls.
Stay clear of anyone with Owen in their name.

Yeah - as Lidl says Spurs have a history of this. The season before this we were top/second all season long on the injury league table.

We've had crappy injuries for as long as I can remember.
It hit our squad quite badly last season, rather than the first XI, for the most part.
Our Europa League sides were severely depleted.

Yeah - it's certainly felt that way since before Physioroom.com was there to support this theory. I wonder how someone generated that table. And I wonder if it can be done for previous seasons. (Hint, hint).

By last season you mean the season just gone? (I'm still in between calling '11-'12 this season and calling it last season).

and I've just read a report about Ledley supposedly being offered another year. - Don't get me wrong, I love Ledley to bits, he's a hero... but he's gotta call it a day.

the main problem for me with this, is that we will take the "ahh well, ledley's signing for another year, that gives us "x" CB's, so we'll be fine."

when in reality he'll be out for a period of time, so will another one or 2 (possibly at the same time)... and we're up **** creek.

We've just got to get rid of the injury prone players and make sure we sign ones that aren't. we've had our fair share of it for too many years now. its like we're at a disadvantage before we've even started.

Yeah, I should probably have said that, too.

It's unfortunate, but I have to agree.

Yeah - it's annoying isn't it? All this talk of "if he can play 20 games a season for us he's worth it" and now he's done that I guess we all feel a bit "Err, right - um well..."

Truth is that he looked pretty dodgy towards the end of this season just gone and if the quality that he always delivered is not there then resigning him does look iffy.

It'd be a bit simpler if we didn't have this 25-man squad rule thing. Cheap contract and keeping him around would be fine otherwise.

this is also very true lenny. Never has he looked "dodgy" in the past, until the end of last season. I found myself holding my breath and lost a lot of confidence in him. :(

For me the change came after the Man City game when he gave away that late penalty - it was just so un-Ledlylike. So much so that I immediately formed the opinion that it was a dive. Ledley just wouldn't dive in like that without winning the ball, would he? Not on a player who is facing away from goal. Oh. He did - it was an awful challenge. And going by his form from then on it almost seems like his fallibility came as much as a surprise to him as it did to me.

He also looked like he was carrying a few spare pounds in recent months.
