Looks as though you guys may well now make the automatic promotion positions, probably second only to Brighton. Being just 2 points behind Huddersfield Town who have a pivotal fixture on Saturday against Peterborough ,and you still have two games in hand. Do you think you are almost there now or are there still some crucial matches that still need to be won at all costs, I am thinking of your next few games. It is looking increasingly likely now that the true 'Derby' matches will be returning next season, so as the title says , congratulations are probably in order.
Never count your Chickens before they're hatched comes to mind SB3. We have to match the results around us whether it be Hudders or Posh. So yes in some ways yes in others no. It is at least in our own hands. It is going to the wire though............
Saints have two games in hand and in theory they are both away from home if to match huddeersfields played record... need to get something this weekend.....
SB3, I guess most fans are very positive about our position with the games in hand, and the way we are playing, but NOONE, I repeat noone is taking things for granted. Of the top 6 teams only brighton have developed the level of consistency to al but guarantee promotion. For the rest of us there are many twists and turns to come, and I doubt if 2nd spot will be won until the last 2 games. But I am very positive about our chances!
ODB- I agree, you do have quite an intense schedule of matches, the next two being key perhaps and also the little matter of Brighton away as well very soon. So, I understand your reservations although you are in the driving seat and at this stage do not need to rely upon anyone else's results if you can produce the consistency that will be required in the coming weeks , despite injuries etc. So 'yours to loose' is I guess the overview.
"Yours to loose"??? Well, maybe to lose. Let's get real here. As you say, we have to play the league leaders away shortly. Should we lose and Huddersfield win their game then we would be 5 points behind with 2 games in hand. In our hands yes. Uncorking the Champagne? Let's just keep it the fridge for the moment, if that's alright with you
If (IF!) we win on Saturday, we can't lose whatever the results in the Hudds v. Posh match. Hudds win everything's the same and we have 2 games in hand with 1 fewer game left. Posh wins we're still above them and are in 2nd place. Draw (best result): both lose points and we are 2nd on goal difference. So, we have to concentrate on our result (as NA says).
Perfectly summed up I reckon. Being Saints fans we have grown accustomed to the odd drawback and lost opportunities. Some of us may shout it from the rafters that we are going up but most of us will wait nervously in anticipation.
