It's Martinez that wants to run the club while Rodgers has just taken on his work as first team coach according to the Swans fans. Anyway Martinez is too young to do that role so I was only half joking.

    So was i.

I think it might just be smoke and mirrors and FSG's advisors will convince them to take on a more experienced man like Van Gaal.

Or just lend us a few quid and we can do the same :emoticon-0148-yes: Football's cruel sometimes, but I loves it and my Swans (would never have it any other way!)

Given the choice lads if I supported LFC I would, with my inside knowledge choose Rodgers over Martinez every day of the week.

Martinez started us off playing this way but was too gung ho and had no plan b. Every time the opposition had a corner I would break out in a cold sweat as we never defended them properly.

Sousa came in after and went too defensive but at least he taught us how to defend properly.

Rodgers has come in and made the odd adjustment here and there and has found the happy medium. Promotion and a 11th place finish in the Prem in his two seasons with us is a very good return.

Personally I think Rodgers has plenty of time on his side and will one day manage a big club. At the moment however I don't think he is ready to manage Liverpool. One season at top level is not enough experience for a big job, but in a couple of years time then I think he'll be ready to take the next step. Whoever gets the post has a big job on their hands however. No disrespect meant but some of your players are simply not good enough to be Liverpool players. I saw that much at the Liberty. No offence but you should not lose games to the likes of us.

I would rather have Rodgers as Martinez appears to be tactically naive (attack, attack, attack!).

Rodgers seems to have more tactical nous which probably stems from his days whilst working/studying under Van Gaal and Martinez.

If we were to get Van Gaal, then I think it helps having Rodgers in because they already have that relationship and respect. Plus Rodgers knows Clarke so the initial bedding in period of getting to know colleagues will become a lot easier.

I read an old article on Rogers yesterday and wanted to post a thread on it, but some of what was said is covered in this OP so I'll just post it up here. This article is an actual interview with Rogers himself.

I've always had a preference for Rogers, I would love a manager with that mentality at LFC. Just so long as he is given time.

If people are not sure about employing a Martinez or Rogers I read an interesting point of view some where...Wenger managed a Japanese team before Arsenal. Klopp and Rafa were relegated before their successes. They should not be treated the same as old Woy who has a dated view on football and is unlikely to develop it at his age into the modern era. At least we are targeting a manager with this certain style of football, don't get me wrong...Lambert has done a fantastic job at Norwich but he isn't renowned for his style...which I figure is the reason we haven't approached him.

The more I read up on Rodgers, the more excited I am at the prospect of seeing him working alongside a high profile DoF.

I think the man is tactically aware and spot on, and his style/philosophy is suited to us. By having Barca men in Segura and Borrell, I think they would really hit it off with Rodgers and find it easier to relate to one another.

  10. I can't say I am convinced by either. I am firmly in the Rafa camp but that's just not going to happen.
