How do you think the Leeds United supporters all over the world will react, if Bates doesn't deal with the possible investors and decides to keep the status quo? The recent media stuff has shown just how much the Leeds fans want Bates out and I can't help feel there can be no turning back now.
It's possible Bates wants out at this stage. At least that's what I'd be hoping. No matter how thick skinned he is, it can't be any fun flying from his tax haven to watch games at Elland Road he clearly has little or no interest in. Couple that with the fact he is now a hated figure in and around the club, he may be happy to move on. So even if this one falls through, it will have alerted other investors the club is for sale and will be only a matter of time
The reaction from the club: 'fans scared them away'. The reaction from the Macron-wearing zombies: '**** um if they dont want 2 b at mitey leeads'. The reaction from Trust and active fans: probably more protests and even bigger focus on finding new investment, realizing what a mess the due diligence process/asking price must have been for three separate parties to fail in their bids. If Bates is indeed unwell though, there have got to be changes sooner or later.
Have you seen something to suggest he is unwell. I wouldn't wish anyone Ill health, I just couldn't be bothered one way or the other where he is concerned
Normally reliable posters on a couple of other sites are saying he's got some form of dementia, and pneumonia is setting in. My heart weeps.
My mum passed away in December, battled her last eighteen months with dementia. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy to be honest having been up close to it every day. If that is setting in, he shouldn't be in a decision making position at the club because he almost certainly won't have his full faculties all of the time
A number of posters on another "606" forum commented that he did not look well: 1) At the year end player awards dinner, and 2) On the Big Screen at a recent game.
I wouldn't wish ill health to anyone, even Bates. Remember he is the father to five people and I'm sure he is respected by them as many other people also respect him. I actually know of a few things Bates has done whilst at Leeds, which the media haven't got hold of, and he was very civil and genuine with those involved, so there is a kind side to the man. I wish him well if he does retire and settle back in Monaco.
If he threw 1-2 million at Warnock and we watched some decent signings arrive and Snoddy signed a new contract I feel it would calm down, then it would depend on the start of the season, a few wins and things would be brushed under the carpet. If he expected Warnock to sign only freebies then I would imagine the **** would hit the fan big time. For me this possible takeover is about a new owner making a couple of million available to Warnock and reinvesting profits. To "some" you can see the excitement levels building hoping and wondering could it be a takeover and money made available to the extent of a Chelsea or Man City - The disappointment would be unreal for almost everyone should this fall through.
When you read articles like this: http://www.sport360.com/article/are-leeds-united-next-target-gulf-investment you can't help feel that if Bates doesn't allow this to go through, the club would be in a serious situation with a massive fans revolt.
I get the feeling bates isnt in a condition to carry on running the club, I think hes ****ed and is likely to pop his clogs before the start of the season
Bates having Dementia could work in Warnocks favour - He could keep asking him for the £500k for Pearce until Bates is skint
But won't name the club till the end of June. FFS, how can we survive a month of rumors, with no transfer activity, and whats Warnock expected to do with himself till the end of June. I want word in the next hour
I think he knows he has lost the genuine support of the fans and without doubt tyhe most hated man in Leedsso he has to resolve the problem quickly I would have thought
I'm of the opinion that the so-called £19m debt which the club were supposed to owe FSF at the time of administration. You remember the debt that they said they would forget as long as bates could stay in charge .... Well we've all seen the accounts over the last 3 seasons and the way cash has vanished into offshore accounts etc. Maybe that £19m has found its way to FSF accounts in Geneva along with more into offshore accounts in Nevis etc, and as they picked up the club for pennies, have decided they can't squeeze anymore out. bates has left the cupboard bare and he now knows that selling our better players year after year, without replacing them can only mean trouble. Time to move on, and if as many suspect that he owns ER and TA and can sell them off at the same time (Makes sense now redevoloping the east stand) We may get an owner who owns the lot and can really do some damage this season. Too many false dawns though and a risky business playing with Mr Bates, as too many people have had their fingers burned in the past. If a deal isn't done then I think we can say that we'll be relegation fodder this season as the money's gone. bates only ruse, yet again would be to put the club into administration. Having no funds at this stage is serious as theres no cash being generated, so going bust again seems likeley. Why else would he sell forward season ticket sales, and what did he do with the millions that he got from that, and oh by the way whatever happened to all those millions generated in transfer sales. Milner sell-on fee, Delph, Garbutt, 2 kids to Man City, Schmiechael, Howson, Gradel, oh and FA cup runs and league cup runs against prem opposition - howthe**** can we be skint, because we've spent nothing??? Thanks you robbingbastard bates
