A very positive piece. I think his style could suit a lot of our players well. With top players it could be great. But he is yet to experience top level football.

Good read. I don't see the difference between Rodgers and Martinez, they would both be a risk but both have an ideal and a way that they want to play football. Either may prove the doubters wrong and be a success.

I feel Rodgers is more tactical whereas Martinez is just purely attacking. As the article mentions, Rodgers has had a very good education, learning from Van Gaal and Mourinho which is very hand if the rumours are true in that Van Gaal will be the Sporting Director.

Swansea are saying it's nonsense, the media suck in this country. There seems to be no truth in anything they write.

Funny but on lfc.TV they are saying the exact opposite of you and that we don't have the players to play his way.

How many managers do you want? thought Martinez was getting the job, now you want Rodgers! just for the record, and I'll only say this once, the media are and have been all season bulling Rodgers up, that's fact 1, Fact 2, is that our game was first developed by Martinez, after Kenny Jacket resigned, Martinez is the true architect of our game, but the technical defencive possession, was down to Sousa, and while Martinez was a very dynamic offencive possession orientated coach, Sousa was the opposite, he was a defencive possession driven manager, these two Managers Martinez and Sousa are the real authors of our style of play. Lastly point 3, all Rodgers had to do was oil the cogs of the existing machine, and find us a decent finisher up front, Rodgers signed Borini from Chelsea on loan, for the last few months of our promotion season from the Championship, job done we where promoted. Now in his first season in the Premiership, after losing Borini we sign Danny Grayham, and Siggy for the last few months of the Prem, so in conclusion, if Rodgers where to go, would I be worried? No because he did not develop the football at Swansea, and we would simply get another manager in that would maintain the total football philosophy that was laid by Martinez and Sousa, you would be making a big mistake, if you think that you'd be getting the architect of our passing game, because you would not be in Rodgers. It's true Rodgers tried to implement this continental game at reading, but it proved a failure, so the real artist is Martinez!................... <cheers>

Its a good read but I still dont want the bloke anywhere near Liverpool. One good season in the prem and hes up for the Liverpool job? really? I thought Martinez was a bad idea but by god I would take him over Rodgers like a light as it was him who really did all the hard work at Swansea. This has to be the worst list of managers I have ever seen linked to a big job.

The thing that strikes me is it talks about Swansea being good against teams that press them as it allows more space for them to play in, but they struggle against teams that sit back and soak up the pressure.

"In fact, it is to be noted that Swansea have generally won matches against teams who are intent to press the Swansea players when out of possession as compared to the lesser number of victories against the teams who have sat back and not pressed Swansea"

The in the next paragraph says the exact same about us.

"Liverpool have won matches where the opponent has been willing to come out and play a game of football, leaving space for Liverpool forwards to move and receive the ball, and generally play with freedom. To win against teams that park the bus we need to create our own space."

Surely having Rodgers would be no different in that aspect? The only thing is we get 75% of teams sitting back against us, where as Swansea probably had 75% of teams pushing up and pressing them so would that mean we would struggle even more?! Basic viewpoint I know but in that respect what would he change?

Give me Martinez over Rodgers any day of the week. We already employed a flavour of the month manager and look where that got us. Martinez is far shrewder in the transfer market and proven in the premiership. To keep Wigan up once is an achievement but to consistently do it is unbelievable.

  14. I agree with that but I don't see either employing their 343 systems if either were to join Liverpool <ok>

Good to see the opinions of the Swans fans as they know both managers. Thanks lads.

  16. Agreed. Especially interesting that they seem to favour Martinez even though he left them and Rodgers is their current manager who also got them into the Prem...<ok>

I still can't decide despite their input. Martinez will want full control and won't get it. Rodgers has just taken on the work of others and reached a new level from that point of first team coach (if I'm getting the Swans fans right) so Rodgers would suit FSG better?

Ok, so from the profile of both Rodgers and Martinez and the input of Swansea fans we should get Martinez as DoF and Rodgers as manager. <whistle>

Either of them are good choices. From a selfish point of view... please leave our maturing team in peace!

You guys seem to forget the trophy's won by Shankly/Paisley/***an/Dalglish/Souness/Evans et al before they becam managers at Liverpool. Nowt, just a real belief in the way to play the game.

This is a sorry mess for all involved, and your owners have a lot to answer for. Fingers crossed, it's over soon. Good luck

and for the record, despite Bobby M ditching us.... he is still level pegging with BR in whose the better. Both manager's styles will take time, something I fear you/the owners will not give them.
