Touble with us is that we can (at the moment ) only play one way and are set up as such, could another manager do as well as our previous , it's all well and good saying there's others out there but we appear to be well matched with what we have at the present,
Can we all calm down please, Casual good thread mate, and very legitimate! Some say that opportunities like this don't come that often, and that a manager like Rodgers would be a fool not to go for it, but the truth is that these jobs come around every year, how many managers have chelsea had, and Liverpool are going down the same path, to me this is another club living in the past, and fast becoming a comedy show like chelski, so if I was Rodgers, how long would I expect to last at Anfield, 3 months?, 6 months? maybe a full year? if they can sack Dalglish in the way they did, a Liverpool great, then Rodgers has to ask himself, 'Do I feel lucky' because in my opinion this poisoned chalice has all the signs of a repeat Reading on a bigger scale, and could Rodgers come back from that. I hope that Martinez will go for it, though I doubt he will, as he has found out first hand, how difficult it was at Wigan, to get the passing game going, and how long would Liverpool give any manager to achieve their style of play, given the difficulties of developing the continental possession game, but with Rodgers he's never successfully developed his own squad of 'Total Football' all he's done here at Swansea is maintained the excellent status quo, with a few fine tweaks, not really the same as starting from scratch as Martinez did at Wigan & Swansea, so if Martinez does turn down the Liverpool job, then Rodgers should take the warning, and leave well alone, as this is one poisoned chalice, but can a leopard change it's spots? I don't think so, and Rodgers will do the same as he did with Watford and Reading, the guy has become drunk on his own limited success, and will get found out at Liverpool, I'll put money on it! Am I bothered regarding him going, not really, as I have every confidence in our board of directors finding the next manager, and at this level, surely we can attract now from all over Europe, challenging times might well lay ahead, but I'll be up for them, and so will our club and squad!................
A casual fan is definitely a bluebird in disguise, I've thought it for a long time and I know I'm not alone.
Hey calm down mate, it's not the end of the world, you'll get another manager i'm sure, you're getting too stressed, if you want my opinion you'll stay up and continue in the big boys lge, might be a last day survival but believe me it's a good way to stay up!!
latest news on wales itv news, Brendan has come back for a regular meeting with jinks....jinks says liverpool was not discussed .. does he think we are stupid or what???? Its the main topic at the moment and they never discussed it. yer right of course you didn't.... here was the perfect opportunity to say something...
Hope nobody minds, but I'v merged all the "Brendan is off" threads into one. The forum is littered with them and until Huw confirms we'd had an approach, it's complete nonsense.
Ash, I've kept a close eye on casual fan for a long time and I'm convinced he's from the dark side of the force mate. So no complaints from me about you putting all his rubbish together
Was wondering where the hell I was?? glad you beemed me back to the original thread! Casual your one busy bee..... .........
Check over "Casual fan"'s posts - the gleeful comments about it being a bit of "fun", waiting a few replies and then dropping in "I wonder what Sig is thinking"... the acting the innocent but dropping in insults. Anyone else notice that he created more than one post on the topic? That the second one was basically straight after he was outed on the first thread. One moment he says that the odds make it a certainty that he will take the job (and he is very quick to throw in the towel - suggesting that if he talks to Liverpool then that is it, he's gone) and the next he backtracks and says that the odds prove nothing - and then keeps quoting the odds!. A couple of times he says things like refering to Swansea rather than "we" that just give a feeling of distance and then he ups the act and throws in a few positive comments to try to fool people. Then you might notice the rather gleeful "I'm off to bed to leave you guys to worry" comment... I would suggest not falling into his trap of getting too worried and caught up in doom-mongering that he clearly wants. It's speculation - last year we were worrying about Dyer, this year it'll be Rodgers.
Time to take a chill pill guys. If it were me, choosing between a'big' club with fickle fans and owners who are reaching the end of an era and need complete rebuilding but with power men picking players above me,; and a club that has given full control, is loyal, is a development that tugs at my heart strings, and is something I call my own......I'd know what I choose. Of course BR will speak with them. If he chooses red, then he goes with my best wishes.... but will get no tears if it goes pear shape come December. He may choose that path.... but if I were him I wouldn't (sorry scousers, but you have control of the poisoned chalice of an American owned soccer club. Either way... proud to be Jack and have our managers and players associated with the 'big' teams.
To be honest, I'm getting rather board with all the speculation. Nothing has come out from Huw or Liverpool, at present it's all paper and bookies talk. Until their is news from our Huw, to say that permission has been granted for Brendan to talk to Liverpool, then everything is rumour mongering etc.
On the Liverpool board, they are running new articles by the minute on Rodgers, and one poster has posted that "A few journo's on Twitter are stating they have it on good info that Brendan Rodgers has accepted the LFC job." There's never a dull moment at Swansea these days, is there, first the El Judas season, then the Sousagate season, now Rodger the Dodger season is upon us!.......................
Crikey, I`ve just spent about an hour going through this lot, and had to have a little breather to get my eyes adjusted again. Managers, like players are a very transient breed, they come & they go, with very few exceptions. If he goes, then he goes, it`s not really a problem, is it? He`s just had a million pound bonus for keeping us up, as well as his salary. If he goes to Liverpool or anywhere else, he`ll have another big payday when his new club realise he has only got the skill & technique to play one way, a way that suits our style, and sack him. If he`s not monetarily flush (?) by now, he will be when Liverpool get rid of him. If he has no intention of moving away, then he should say so. As he has`nt, then that would imply he is thinking of it. It seems to me that all the media attention about him this last season has gone to his head a bit. All of the above might very well be wrong, but hey ho, QUE SERA SERA.
DP... if he goes, he goes. To call him Rodger the dodger is disrespective to his intelligence and everything he has ever said as a great Swansea manager. Don't like your attempt a a gutter press headline as I know where he stands as a manager in my heart. I still believe in BR and still believe in my Super Swans, even if others believe in tomorrow's chip papers.
As its the Liverpool board and a story about a 'possible' candidate for our vacant managers job why does it surprise you theres much talk about Rodgers? You might have noticed that not everyone on our board is in favour of us 'possibly' getting Rodgers,in fact its you and your constant comments thats keeping all those threads going. Give it a rest Phil, whatever will be will be.
A part of huw jenkins statement today went " i can assure people i hope we have not got to go through the process of changing the manager this year" does not make a lot of sense and not the words of a chairman who is confident of holding on to the manager http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18235961
The other interesting thing to throw in to the mix is the fact that at this very moment Fox Soccer are filming a documentary about Liverpool FC and its owners with the full backing of the club... All this speculation will look great on the telly wont it! http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...ssingroom-access-for-documentary-7682136.html
