Considering how ****ed City are going to be in a few years there is more chance of Swansea using a jackhammer around the border of the city, hiring a crane to carry it up to manchester and Swansea becoming the biggest club in Manchester next season.

There are more fans In England than the Chavs and ££££ combined, probably more UTD fans in Cockney ****er land than Chavs and ££££ will ever have.

Does anyone really care that a bloke in Devon who has never been north of the Watford Gap avidly cheers United on from his living room or a guy from Somalia shoots at cruise ships wearing an Eric Cantona t-shirt? For the proper supporters it doesn't matter what the club's global fanbase is and the 99% of gloryhunters worldwide and in this country are an irrelevance.

I wish my club had some fans and I am jealous of the Somalian with his big weapon.

Considering these fans are a revenue source and the clubs needs revenue to survive then they are quite important. With such high numbers the club doesnt need everyone to spend a fortune. United basically make 50p off every fan on average.

Fair enough if they're out there buying official merchandise though I'd imagine the vast majority in Asia, Africa and South America in particular are buying knock-off stuff or nothing at all. It just all seems a bit 'my dad is bigger than your dad'.

I like that if I see a bloke wearing a QPR shirt he's 99 times out of 100 been to plenty of games and has a real passion for the club. I hope that never changes but it inevitably will.

You were the one who got sore at Watford's comment, just made me a tad suspicious. No need to get hostile

Its UTDs way of having a swipe at ££££ and Chavs. They may have won the PL and CL but you are still a very small club with rich owners.

You've basically said you'd rather come 3rd/4th and win absolutely **** all than win the Champs League and FA Cup.

Man Utd are unquestionably one of the worlds biggest brands in football, and sport as a whole. 10% of the worlds population supporting them though? Nah.

And if selling merchandise is what gets you excited then maybe you should start supporting Apple or Coca cola instead.

How many of those will still be there though if you don't remain super successful in the years to come? A relatively small number.

With respect, a bloke in China, Nigeria or even closer to home that has no reason to support United other than it being a successful club is quite likely to jump ship to someone else if the team falls into decline. If anything the larger the fanbase from outside the local area the less faithful it is likely to be.
