Why is it that I can see theHotHead's quoted posts? <whistle>

The ignore list should cover those as well.

This board becomes about 50% more stupid with him on it.

    My musings:

Do both countries have a problem with racism in football? Clearly yes and, as such I don't think they deserve to host such tournaments until such time as they can show the world they've made huge strides to combat it.

Will there be trouble? Probably not much more than most major tournaments due to huge amounts of policing but were I anything other than a well fit white dude I'd be massively apprehensive about going there. Not so much at the games themselves but I'd be very concerned about the times in between.

In South Africa I'd have loved to go had been able to afford to. I know there was some scaremongering prior to the tournament and maybe I was being naive but I didn't take that as seriously. Certainly I regarded it as the sort of place where a degree of common sense would see you safe. There were also warnings/advice posted about the best places to be and what to do whereas I see the officials at this tournament acting as though there's nothing to worry about.

I should add that I'm sure a healthy percentage of Poland and Ukraine are lovely people and that my concerns are based purely on Panorama last night. As such, I appreciate I don't have an especially rounded view. Still, saying that it's still the first tournament in years that I'm not bothered about not going to (and not just because this England team is w*nk).

You're right. But I have to say I find his rants quite entertaining. They are so far wide of the mark it's untrue <laugh>

I think it's quite revealing when people lose the plot and start spouting off bollocks about people they don't know,
it shows just how insecure they are about themselves.

    Good post.

And I have to say, that anyone who has travelled should have learned that you need to have your head screwed on at all times.
It's basic common sense. There are ways to make it less likely to end up in trouble - and there are ways to invite it too.

Why would you be more concerned going to the Ukraine or Poland than South Africa?
The reality is SA has a MUCH higher crime rate.

In terms of hate crimes racial problems.. again SA is considerably worse than Poland or even the Ukraine.

Poland is one of the few countries in Europe who's economy is growing and crime statistics are going down. In fact England has a higher crime rate than Poland.

It's not even remotely as bad as people are making out.

Calm down! I never claimed to be an expert on any of those countries. Chalk it up to ignorance on my part but I did say I was probably being naive concerning SA. I also clearly said I was basing my knowledge on Ukraine/Poland based purely on one episode on Panorama and, as such didn't have an especially rounded view.

Says on thing, does another. Not much hope for a man that can't stick by his own words.

As for your ramblings which was directed at me, sadly it's just more rubbish. You can keep going on and on, about the different motives behind the criminales in SA against the ones in Poland and Ukraine, but the potential victims of both crimes could not give a single **** about that. As I will repeat, for an event like the countries involved will do everything to make sure that they run it without any serious incidents. The eyes of Europe are going to be on these countries and the people in charge are normally self serving individuals and they know that their reputation and maybe jobs are on the line. As for the police chief, again you are basing your whole argument about them based on one interview. Just plain wrong. You do not have a clue about what is happening in private and what they are planning. If you think, the police of Ukraine are some sort of weak force because of a few clips you have watched, then you are sadly mistaken again. Rest assured, with what's on the line, they will do what is needed to make sure that the Euro's is run smoothly.

I don't know why you bother - you make yourself look utterly stupid trying to catch me out - but seeing as I don't lack brain power, your efforts are in vain.

Anyone who doesn't think that there is a very real heightened risk of death this time compared to other football tournaments is living in denial, frankly.

SJW's repeated insistence of there being more police so no risk is quite silly. There will be more police precisely because there will be more violence. The two things cancel each other out. If you're using the point that "the army might be deployed" as a defence, you really have to stop and ask yourself how bad the risk of violence is that there's even people thinking about deploying the army to deal with it. No realistic police force is going to keep you completely safe if the kind of violence we know from experience with football in these countries actually occurs on the scale that this tournament will be on.

The eyes of the world will be on the host countries so the chance of trouble will be reduced....really?
Newsflash! The eyes of the world are on Syria as well. There are even UN observers running around the country. How's that working out for the Syrians?

Comparing these countries to SA is totally irrelevant. The topic is Ukraine & Poland and the threat of racist violence in those countries. It can't be diminished by saying it could/would/might be worse somewhere else.

Where did I say they will be no risk? My point is that risk will be reduced because of the nature of the event.

You got the point the way panorama showed that I probably wouldn't go there if not seen myself. Programme was xenofobic, stereotypical and close to racism. It was made to put people off and did the job, it harmed nations working hard to do excellent tournament u could probably afford. Why they didn't show Cracow teams players? There is at least five Black guys and two Israelis. One of Cracow clubs is called by themselves "Jude gang" and there is no racism in that and the other is pointing that due to long rivalry. The flag shown as Warsaw fans "White Power" wasn't actually in Warsaw but small town Legionowo, same as Celtic crosses and other graffittis found on long abandoned places. Why author doesn't show whole stadiums and all fans? Just bits put together to make bad impression, what's the point to do so week b4 tournament? Are Olympics tickets not selling?
There is lots of troubles in Uk as well as other countries. Just to remind about riots and what police did during that, John Terry, Suarez, chants on players like Cambell, Adebayor, women in bus, fans killed outside stadiums, stabings How many documentaries u could make?
I'm not saying there is no problem but is not as much as some western countries and media are
showing and especially this programme it's not as far from Uk as they like to think. Been in Cracow three weeks ago and it's old town is full of Brits and Asians, all alive and enjoying.

Not so idiotic it would seem ... others seem to be able to grasp the concept pretty well in the thread, its just you and PESKY are finding it difficult.

I returned to laugh at you.

Why do you keep making them grand exits only to keep returning? In this thread, there has been plenty of people agreeing and disagreeing. If you think only me and Piskie are disagreeing with your arguement, then you have clearly not read the views of the other people in this thread.

Come back to the Double winners board. You have been strangely absent recently. I wonder why? <whistle>
