BBC are reporting Southampton Have had £7M Bid for Burnley's Rodriguez Accepted. Far too much in my opinion. I highly doubt Norwich will pay anywhere near that.
Seems as if he's definately off there then. Money talks and soton have it in abundance compared to us. Either we inquired and got told how much they wanted and didn't follow up our interest or he just wasn't on lamberts wish list.
If they're chucking £7m at a player that could be a risk, I think we all know what Southampton's spending will be like this Summer, unless of course they are only going to buy one or two players.
Sticks in the throat when you think Southampton were in administration not so long ago and now they can out bid us because of rich owners even though we've had season in the EPL. Reading have money behind them too Wet Sham do as well, it's gonna be tough next season make no mistake. Looks like we'll be shopping in Aldi rather than M&S or even Harrods for the forseeable future. This is what worries me, if Lambert has no real money to spend the old cliche of 'taking us as far as he can' may be in his thoughts ? <totallypissedoffwithmyfootballclubbeingsoskintemoticon>
It is annoying, this is why I believe were going to struggle next season. As southampton have that financial clout they are going to be like us with who they want to sign but are willing to spend big to get there man which means we miss out. I reckon Lambert didn't go for him purely cos of the fact of these type of fees and new we wouldn't stand a chance! Holtamania made a comment earlier saying that billy sharp is on more than any of our first team squad, just goes to show how much money they have really. Someone expensive is going to be keeping the bench warm next season!
Burnley turned doen £5-6M for him from the Saints at the start of last season so they were always going to go back. They are welcome to anyone at that price. I can't understand these clubs that had been to the brink of extinction carrying on in this absurd way. I was hoping football had started coming to its senses but with Hazard going for £32M its still out of control.
Southampton paying £7M for JRod is like Liverpool paying £35M for Carroll, that worked out well, eh?
it's still way early in the summer, we've plenty of time to add some quality to our squad. Plus our lads have had a season experience compared to the Saints players. Keep the faith! We've a decent transfer record in the last couple of seasons and i see no reason for that to change just yet. p.s the Eden Hazzard package is a joke! £4.6m salary post tax per annum.
Probably worth it in terms of the inflated transfer fees, but again highlights how crazy it has all become.
Yeah, I sort of purposefully misinterpreted your comment for comedic effect. I see there's a lot of talk of Saints throwing money around, but I assure you that it will always be well thought out. We have a very smart man called Nicola Cortese conducting our business. Jay Rod isn't costing us any more than Fletcher cost Wolves, and is considerably less than Wickham cost Sunderland.
You guys seem a bit jealous of us splashing on players...or am I wrong? There is no need for you guys to worry about the players we sign, whether they're good or not because I have total faith in Nigel Adkins ability to buy the best players for the club and extracting every ounce of talent from their bodies.
Envy, for me. I think he is a very good striker and would be a great addition for the majority of PL teams
