One last thing to say on this thread before it gets shut down, people going on about gays and people from other nationalities backgrounds etc. usually you find they have very few friends in the real world and thats why they have ignorant opinions. That plonker going on about Gok Wan and Peter Tatchell just illustrated that point, a bit like going on about football when you know nothing about it and dropping in Beckham or Bobby Charltons name. Some gay people are annoying for sure but I have great friends from that community who would find it piss funny that some middle-aged loser on a forum thinks they are on a mission to take over the world. Rant over.

I'd call it something like bullying and harrasment as I would if it was any group being victimised, to do anything else is discrimination based on skin colour. What would you call the milions killed by pol pot and the Russians who were the same race as each other?

To confuse it even further, the campaign for racial equality and the black police officers association had to change their policies when challenged because there is no usable definition of a black person.

The 'racism' agenda is a red herring that, by accident or design misses the real issues.

Yes or no answer only please (which should be easy enough for anyone)
    Do you think racism exists?

Sorry, I would have thought the answer was clear from my previous replies. The problem with you trying to be Paxman is that you choose to ignore the wider element than simply yes or no. The usual reply to such a narrow minded question is 'define racism' and then to post examples that show each definition is meaningless.

By way of an example in the simple terms you're after, ID cards were introduced in one African state. The state got caught in a bloody civil war between two different tribes. Anyone without an id card was killed. Anyone with an ID card showing they were from the opposing tribe was killed. They were killed because of their ethnicity, but the bigger picture related more to the power struggle and battle for resources. So you could say racism exists there, but tackling it as a race issue would resolve very little as it doesn't get to the root of the problem as it tackles a symptom, not the cause.

Apologises for using the term middle-aged in my rant, theres nothing wrong with that and I'm nearly in that bracket for myself. As for racism the OED accepted definition is:
'prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior'

If so why are you scared to give a yes or no answer?
    So I'll ask again:
    Do you think racism exists?

Scared? Why would you think someone was scared, especially after I've gone to lengths to answer your non-question?

    Okay, define racism.

Based on the definition I just gave racism exists, however if somebody wants to use their own subjective definition for racism then they could say it didn't. It's a personal viewpoint. The best way to define racism is to go by what a court of law says in my opinion.

:laugh:You're not exactly Paxman are you?

To save you droning on, in the context of your simplistic definition, it exists. But the bigger and far more important question is why all forms of anti-social activity exist.

The money pumped into the PC industry is obscene, especially as even by their own pecualiar standards it's an abject failure. The money would have been far better spent tackling the real issues rather than creating pigeon holes and ghettos of ignorance.

I don't disagree in the slightest, but it fits your definition of racism.

Thank you at last. Your answer was YES Racism does exist.
    So next question:
Do you think racists deserve to be punished?

True enough. I'm going to try and win this racism debate by saying that it's the legal system that defines racist behaviour, or what is defined as racism. I'll leave you lads to fight over the scraps of my won argument!
