    "probably take the job"

Evidence please? Oh, other than journalistic sources. He did not "break off a holiday". You believe everything you read in the papers <doh>. He watched Wales. The game ended. He came home.

I'm not saying it won't happen but it's paper speculation. At least at time of writing.

You obviously can't read. Other thread is about who we'd like as next manager. This thread is about Brendan apparently planning to discuss Liverpool job. Many aren't interested in next manager debate and might not have read this breaking news if it wasn't in a new thread.

Don't see how you can say I'm revelling in this fun. I have stated many times that I want Brendan to stay and here I'm just reporting what the Telegraph are saying in case anyone missed it.

You should try reading what I say instead of making your own stuff up. Or maybe you're training to be a sports reporter.

Yes, it's speculation and that what we're discussing, just like we always discuss speculation. I find it interesting to discuss and see what view others have, including yours. But the papers are speculating, I'm speculating and you're speculating.

Oh don't give that garbage, you created two threads about the same subject, even though there are others on here about it, so instead of discussing it in one place we have I think 4 threads on it <doh> two of them from you !!

I am getting worried about all this. I really hope he stays for another year at least. I just want the speculation to be all over one way or another so we can move on.

As I already said before, the clubs/managers/players should sue if the papers print complete lies about them. That is the only way to put an end to it.

The american owners are potentially digging themselves a big hole here and Dave Whelan is piling the pressure on. Wouldn't be surprised if Martinez turns them down and (hopefully) Brendan continues to show no interest. The Liverpool job is a bit of a hot potato with the team expected to challenge for top 4 which will be incredibly difficult.

I admit I'm clutching at straws to a degree, but there is also a readiness amongst some fans to accept everything they read in the papers as gospel. It ain't.

Not bothered really one way or the other .As long as the Sig transfer goes through , it has no bearing on a renewed Caulker loan possibility & we get 4 million for Buck... then good luck to him .... he'll need it sorting out Liverpool . We were sorted already when Rodgers came aboard , his input improving us was fantastic but he didn't have to have to start from scratch

You're right. But often there's no smoke without fire. It would be stranger if all this speculation was going on and no-one on here mentioned it. It is obviously a hot topic because many people are commenting. If it's all paper talk then just ignore the thread. No-one is being forced to speculate. The thread is there for those that are interested. Others are free to ignore it.

At the end of the day does it really matter what happens, Nobody is going to die and we will still be a premiership team,
Its not as if we have not been in this position before is it, If brendan decides he wants the challenge of managing liverpool then so be it and good luck to him as i hope he does well,
Life is too short to worry about it, we just have to carry on with the next manager and wait until he decides to move on. Brendan owes us nothing as he has made his position very clear that he wants to manage a top club, but we owe him for getting us to the premiership. Its unfortunate especially for us that he has done that well and the big clubs have come calling earlier than even brendan expected....But now they have then we cant really moan if he wants to think about it....he has earned the chance and should he get one of the top jobs with any of them then we should thank him for all he has done and wish him well and move on to the next chapter......dont worry nobodies going to die...

    The Telegraph are rarely wrong.

I was worried about losing Lambert, but I'd be even more worried if this had happened.

Brendan Rodgers has emerged as the new bookmakers' favourite to succeed Kenny Dalglish in the Liverpool hot-seat.

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez was being strongly tipped to take over at Anfield after talks with the club's American owners, Fenway Sports Group, in Miami last week.

But there was still no word from Martinez as he arrived back in Manchester on Tuesday following a family holiday in Barbados - and Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has issued a deadline of Thursday for an agreement to be reached.

And the story took a new twist with Swansea boss Rodgers, who originally turned down the chance to speak to FSG, appearing firmly back in frame. He's odds-on across the board and 1/2 with Sky Bet.

Football trader Joe Petyt explained: "When Martinez was photographed with FSG's John Henry in America he became the strong favourite but even during that time we saw sustained money for Rodgers.

"In the last 24 hours the amount of money we've seen on Rodgers has increased substantially which indicates to us that some people have heard that he's going to take the job."
