Go back to the beginning of the forum and you might realise why I called myself A Casual Fan. Clue - it's nothing to do with Cardiff.

I re-read my original post and can't see any glee. I am a Swans fan who supports the team whatever manager they have. I believe that we'll still do well without Brendan. I'd prefer he stayed but I won't lose any sleep if he leaves because I know we'll get another manager. Losing a manager isn't the end of the world that some people make it out to be. I remember many fans claimed we'd be back in League Two when Martinez left. And I remember fans asking why who wanted a failure like Brendan. Speculating about the next manager isn't being disloyal at all. It's what you lot all do every week about players. It's part of football banter.

Thanks guys. Appreciated. I still hope I'm wrong about Brendan. But I like to be prepared.

Brendan now 1-4 with skybet. Please don't tell me you still think nothing's going on. 1-4 is getting close to a certainty. I'm still hoping the bookies have got this completely wrong, but it's not looking good.

Of course, the bookies could just be covering themselves because there's no other obvious candidate.

    And...

Roberto Martinez looks set to snub Liverpool in favour of a bumper new contract and large transfer kitty at Wigan.

TBH all I was doing was responding to the query about how odds work. It is a bit like a domino effect now the odds are so short. As they become shorter people will stake more on the thinking its a done deal which in turn will shorten the odds and so on and so on. BuAs for all the denials there has only been one denial (which keeps getting re hashed by the media) and one story on Sunday morning. All other stories on Monday came from that. The information even today is total speculation. The Evening Post actually reports he is coming back for a meeting with HJ and goes on to say that this meeting was a scheduled meeting anyway.
All I am saying is that I watched Sky Sports on Saturday night. They discussed the Sunday paper back page headlines and pointed out how conflicting they were as they ranged from Martinez getting the Liverpool job to going to Villa and Brendan being hot favourite for the Liverpool post. Depending on which paper you bought on Sunday morning gave you a different perspective. By Monday all th edilys jumped on whever story they felt was trending. In this case Brendan/Liverpool.
I just found it comical how it unfolded over 3 days. Even after the Swans denied it people just re hashed the same story. Now you may be right and my head is firmly planted 3 feet deep (I have an unusually large cranium), however none of these story's had any quotes or direct info from either clubs or personnel from said clubs. Until then I will go on the here and now and which is Brendan is our manager and has signed siggy and is interested in a loan deal for Dos Santos.

Because they spoke on Thursday and agreed to meet again on Tuesday. They had to have a 2nd meeting to give both parties a chance to think over what was said. The meeting is now most likely for Roberto to say no thanks.

Still want to lay odds on that? If so I'll take them. What are you offering? Better read this first though, just to be fair to you...

Yes, I see what you're saying and I hope you're right. But someone must have an idea of who's in with a good chance of getting the job, so I'm puzzled as to why no-one is putting money on anyone else. I know there's lots of speculation and would people really take odds of 1-4 after the Swansea said that there hadn't been any new contact from Liverpool. I know odds can become self-fulfilling, but not to these extent. Even after Martinez had talks with Liverpool and even after it was reported that he had been offered the job his odds still weren't as short as Brendan's are now.

I really hope they have this all wrong, but there's no smoke with fire.

OK - personal attack? Not sure I did that. I was just highlighting my concerns over the nature of the debate you were trying to start (How many posts have you put on here now?). I would also suggest that comments like "childish" and your aggressive tone "If that's your only comeback then don't bother next time" etc have somewhat diminished your hold of this supposed high ground.

P.S. "Comeback" would somewhat suggest that we are on opposing sides when all that had happened was that you tried to start a debate about who the next manager would be and I questioned your motivations. Where was the "comeback" in that? Surely, and I'm just saying that this would be the logical conclusion to be drawn, that for my response to be "a comeback" then yours would have to have been an attack in the first place?

In truth, I'm kicking myself for replying again, but there you go - quiet afternoon workwise.

Anyhoo... So transfer discussions, why are they different? Well, mainly because transfer discussions tend to revolve around players you think should be moved on or brought on. I don't tend to see transfer threads along the lines of "XXX are clearly going to sign Dyer who should we get to replace him?". For a Swans fan that would be "Oh, (insert swear), I really don't want him to go" and the time to look for evidence that we should hope otherwise. It tends to be more like "Blackpool are after Dobbie, I say it would best for him ot move on for the games". Maybe bringing in more pace up front to challenge Graham, but not whoopee QPR are after Williams.

So that's why people aren't jumping on your bandwagon speculating on who we should replace Rodgers with, because we do not want to replace him.

Comeback was obviously the wrong word to use. So to rephrase, I make a post you don't like and rather than debate the point you call me a Cardiff supporter. That just sounds childish to me.

So would you be ok if I said "Liverpool are after Rodgers and some may think it would be a good career move for him. So if he goes who do you think we should replace him with". That's along the lines of your Dobbie quote.

Went from 1-4 to 1-3 and now 1-2. So starting to look a bit better.

"Childish" again... that highground is just a speck now, isn't it?

My selection of Dobbie was because he is, with the best will in the world, unlikely to break into the team and so the debate is a) Keep him to fill out the squad or b) move him on for his own good - out of respect for what he has done for the club. He doesn't really compare to a manager that is central to what we do.

P.S. Liverpool isn't necessarily a good move. AVB can't get a top job in this country after his time with Chelsea. Rodgers' previous comments on this indicates he can see through the fickle nature of the top jobs and the need to move on at the right time.
