Is it a series at looking at a number of genres? I'm sure i saw one about reggae and ska, which was was pretty good.

They've been heating up the Sex Pistols v the Jubilee deabte in the papers, with interviews with 70s punks on whether they've let their old lifestyles go or if they keep to it. Probably more of the same.

This sounds good. I'm more interested in 'Madchester', does anyone know if this era will be part of the series?

It's shame they just interviewed the dopey loser career punks to get a feel of how many people from back then view it all now.

If you want to understand why punk happened a good starting point is BBC4 reruns of TOTP from 1977.

That's how bad things were back then. Jimmy Saville/DLT/David Hamilton ruling the roost. Mud, Kiki Dee, the Detroit Emeralds in their worst syncopated middle-aged version battling with disco Rod and Gilbert O'Sullivan for for Hit Parade primacy.

There was only so much we could take.......
