There seems to be a feeling among some posters on here that the Allams are trying to get a manager (and a manager who will sign players) on the cheap. Does the fact that they are spending £300k on improving the clubs infrastructure and - IMO - need to appoint a well respected manager in order to get the fans back onside - change anyone's thoughts?
Madhog gets all pissy and has a go at everyone who thinks anything bad about the Allams. They've shown several times they're willing to spend big money on random projects (the most significant of course being buying City in the first place) but my concern is whether they are prepared to invest in the team in the way the current climate requires. I think Assem wants it to be like any other business and it doesn't work if you want any success. I think they are willing to spend money on the backxground areas of the club because it is an investment which will pay for itself, but whether they are prepared to throw money away (which is what it is really) on players or staff is a totally separate issue and based on us hardly buying anyone in the last year, I'd say they won't. If what they say is true (that the manager will be appointed this week) then we might have some clues soon.
How is it throwing money away, to invest in the players that will get you to the Premiership and a guaranteed £90m?
Well I'd agree with you, but I imagine from their point of view nothing is guaranteed no matter how much you spend as Leicester found out last season and West Ham almost did, so if you spend loads and don't get promoted it is thrown away, unlike an investment in business which you can forecast and predict what will happen and you aren't liable to lose for example £5m on an England midfielder with dodgy knees! And to be honest, I couldn't blame them for that. It's the constant bigging it up and pretending we're out to spend loads all the time when it doesn't appear to be true that annoys me (hope I'm wrong)
That's not very entrepreneurial! No risk, no gain! The really good businessman doesn't avoid taking risks, he minimises the effects of the risk.
In Monty Python's style Life of the Allams. What have the Allams ever done for us apart from http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news...-comes-at-three-times-original-cost-1-3028973.
The Allams let Nigel Pearson spend £5 million on putting his team together, hardly doing it on the cheap by championship standards.
For every entrepreneurial success there are 10 failures, a clear business plan and prudent cost control are far more likely to provide success in the long run (boring but true).
No real evidence so far that the Allams are looking to appoint a manager on the cheap. They have just sacked a manager who was Until they appoint someone its all just speculation and rumour. TWT as always.
Think anybody who criticises the Allams, especially in these uncertain times should look in their own pockets and think how much you would be prepared to spend and not have to worry about it ! ! They may be millionaires but in these times when clubs are run by BILLIONAIRES, I say give these blokes a chance. Think where we were not that many years ago when we were tossing our loose change into blankets being carried around the ground (Boothferry Park) being locked out of the ground and put into administration. For Gods sake, give these fellows a chance or run the risk of alienating them completely and walking away !
Very predictable. Why on earth ask a question like this. There is no point when for instance ISTPLT has put his views across quite sensibly and still gets criticised for the fact that he dare question anything about the Allam's approach. Sorry but the only way right thing to say on this board is WE LOVE THE ALLAMS, WE WILL WORSHIP THEM WHATEVER THEY DO BECAUSE THEY SAVED THE CLUB AMEN. I have given up with any other stance, we are just all ungrateful stupid idiots otherwise.
It's an Internet Forum. Rational conversation and feedback makes up about 5% of content. The amount of vitriol directed at the Allams in recent months, often with outrageous allegations disguised as fact, is now being countered in an increasingly unreasonable fashion in some instances. To be fair though, I would say the amount of garbage spouted for/against the Allams is about 20/80. Maybe if some of the negative posters stepped away from their agenda and actually debated in a meaningful way, sensible posts wouldn't get shouted down by idiots. This is the Internet however, so I doubt it.
That is true but equally the Capitalist system cannot work wiothout someone somewhere putting money at risk. It's a core principle. I make no statement here about the Allams, I am talking in general terms.
The question is a fair and valid one. The Allams are probably mystified by the reaction of some quarters of the fan base. They quite rightly have attacked the way that football is run and in some ways they may have had to change the way that they handle the appointment of a new manager. The sacking of a player whilst still in contract and the employment structure of the manager, coaches and scouts, fly in the face of accepted practice. Sacking a manager and Director of football, both of whom are very popular, is in itself a public relations nightmare. Add to that the loss of jobs within the back office. The purchase of the KC and surrounding area and rumour after rumour about their intentions. The fact is that what is often missed on here is that without CLEAR evidence against the statements made, nothing can be taken seriously. Everyone can hold a view, but that view has to have a foundation in fact. I know that turnstile operator numbers will be reduced, but that will soon be forgotten when its faster to get in and its raining. Players and managers will be replaced, but that gets forgotten when we win games. Hull City played great football, without scoring and fans booed the team off the park. Posters wanted to know why we did not invest when we had the chance, but now comes an explaination and that is still not enough. I am not on anyones side, but I can only based my opinions on what I can read hear and see, not on rumour. When something different comes out into the public domain I may change my view, but until then it stays as it is. And yes the appointment will be to appease the fans.
