Don't be so naive SJW. I was in Belgrade and saw a massive police presence to keep hooligans away from the march taking place and there were loads of places stragglers could've been attacked ! Didn't you hear the top policeman claim there had NEVER been an racist incident at a football match in Ukraine <laugh>

Some of you man just don't get it. You just don't get "getting attacked because you are black". You think its a joke thing !! Those guys were training for war, not for a fight at a football match, what do you think they will do to 3 black men walking down the street alone prior to or after a match ????

    You jokers.

Sorry you are the one being naive if you do not think they will they will just increase the level of policing ten fold for those two weeks.

The most shocking part of that documentary was the asian group supporting the home team and getting smashed by the fans of the home team...... Incredible!

I think Uefa should be very embarrassed to allow the Euro's to be hosted there. There are so many other countries around Europe that could have benefitted from hosting such a prestigious competition.

Hothead your wasting your time. Some people are just incapable of understanding the dangers unless they have experienced it themselves. Policing ten fold may deter the fans in the stadium but as Hothead points out, what happens to ethnic Fans during time spent outside the stadium!? That's where the real danger is.

I can only suspect that SJW is white and has never had to experience being targeted because he is a different colour ...... in a different land ...

Exactly. At some point they have to get to the stadium and home from the stadium and you haven't always got big wide well lit streets full of "pleasant people" around !

Watching that Panorama was sad. I knew there were far right groups in that country but it's hard to believe that some people are still oblivious to the severity of it. Just wait until Russia hosts the World Cup, it's even worse there.

UEFA should be ashamed of themselves for hosting it to them. Of course not everyone is those countries are racist but you can't ignore that large groups of far right organizations there.

I have to applaud the UK on how they have tried to stamp it out here. It hasn't and never will be completely eradicated but we're light years ahead of other countries.

Well you should stop suspecting as it's a load of bollocks. What you fail to understand is the different context in which we are talking about. This is a major event and the whole of Europe will be watching. For two weeks, they can enforce high numbers of police and even the army to combat the hooligans. As Arsenal87 said, we had all the warnings about SA in 2010. The 'coming back in a coffin' comment by Sol was unnecessary. If he said about going to Syria right now, then fair enough but not for Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine.

I fail to see how extra security will deter these people. They have a determination to cause harm to others, and they will find a way to do that, regardless of the security measures being enforced.

I have total confidence in the police being able to handle the situation with a fair and even hand. After all their chief of police said that nazi salutes are really people pointing

There are nutters everywhere. But as I will repeat in these modern events, the security presence is very strong. When Brazil 2014 comes near, I have no doubt we will hear about the dangers of the Favela gangs and so on.

The other country in the running for 2012 was Italy. A country in which English fans have been attacked in recent times and stabbed in the arse by fans of Roma.

    <doh>

Pointless debating with someone who doesn't have a clue. As if you can compare crimes in a country where people are stealing to feed their family (South Africa) to 2 countries where fans are more militant in their operation and LOVE fighting !! One set of people would be scared of police presence, the other are not. Did you not see the police getting their arses kicked in the stadium ??? You think the fans are scared of the police ??

Yeah, tell me about it, I am having the same problem with a numpty like you. Why does the intention matter? Both could still harm the visiting fans. But in SA all the things we were warned about never actually happened. It's all about numbers and for an event like this it's going to be huge. The policing will be stepped up because the people in charge know that the eyes of Europe are on them. They are not going to risk it and they will make sure that their arses are saved by pulling their finger out and getting the security to a very high level. As I have said from the start, Sol went over the top with that stupid comment about 'coming back in a coffin'.

Also, let me make it clear that I think UEFA should have chosen a better place then the countries they have chosen. What I am disagreeing with is the views of people who seem to think that there is now a war zone going on out there and it's going to free for all. The more and more I think about it the more I disagree with the stupid comments from Campbell and that returning in a coffin line.

Campbell's comments were over the top. And SJW is right that policing will be stepped up for the tournament. It's away from the stadiums and in the bars when trouble might flare up, but personally, I think the race issue is being overplayed. There are always flashpoints at international tournaments between fans, especially in Europe - but it's not a Black v White thing, there's an undercurrent of it - but it's more of a tribal nationalistic thing.

And HotHead, sometimes mate, you ain't got a ****ing danny what choo talking about ! You should stop before you fire off your assumptions, cos they make you look stupid pal <ok>

If you don't get it, say so and I will explain it to you. You cannot even slightly compare the 2 situations. time to go to school.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/apr/01/south-africa-world-cup-blikkiesdorp

The above link is an article about displaced South Africans - moved by force by the government so as to no "stain" the image of South Africa's world cup - and this is just one of such places. This is point number one - this WONT happen in Poland and Ukraine !

Point two, people stealing to feed their family have a different agenda than football thugs some of which have militant/military backgrounds, don't forget, some Poles have gone through compulsory military service and it is still compulsory in Ukraine. These people do not fear others. What the documentary showed us were people who do not fear the police. The police in South Africa will shoot to kill their own people, I doubt the Ukrainian/Polish police will. Search for articles about South Africa's shoot to kill policy.

Point three is, the police in South Africa admitted they had a crime problem and so sought to deal with it. Contrast that to the Police chief on the programme who categorically denied there were even problems.

so like I said, you CANNOT compare South Africa to Poland/Ukraine - its naive and stupidity to do so and simply highlights the fact that, you don't know what you are talking about and you certainly don't understand the problems faced.

Me a numpty ? I suggest you learn to argue chum <ok>

Whatever. If SJW is black then he is the most clueless black person I have ever come across !

And you haven't got a clue so .. button it. When fans are openly saying they don't like jews and blacks I think we can safely say that white peeps are pretty safe from the racists ! But I wouldn't expect YOU to know anything about that, huh South London boy.
