Hughes was the last to go to the whip but he needed it in the end... Had to work for the win there... Touch Gold fell away tho Blue... Poor run...
Poor Seamus Durack, his horse Eightfold had been properly backed all day reaching 7-2 from double odds at one point and Paul Hanagan lost it all chance at the start by letting every horse bar one come across him and turning a stall 1 draw advantage into nothing in about 20 strides. In truth would have been unlikely to trouble the winner today but the market move is worth noting as they obviously feel he can take a race like this and ran on today quite well allbeit when the actual race was taking place in another county. Eightfold for the notebook
My big bet of the day Espirit de Midas is running next and may start Favourite from 11-1 this morning so i am hoping the trend continues Red.
I think you are right Red, but i have it each way and with the money that has come am hopeful of a place at least. It was the price descrepency that got me interested and even though that has since been rectified i still think it's a reasonable bet. Aside from what i mentioned earlier in the thread this horse was stepped up markedly in class last time and the trainer would not do that lightly as running well into a place against a horse rated significantly higher than yourself is the easiest way to waste a handicap mark.
I fancy the outsider Ocean Legend... Just solely on his CD's wins here... No other reason... 20/1 is a good e/w call...
Sadly Jim Crowley who i like very much rode a terrible start where as Ducal's Jockey Dobbs rode a great start. We knew those two would be close to each other on their current mark, sadly for us both an outsider came over the top. Both Ducal and Espirit de Midas are both still handicapped to win.
Pat Cosgrave is riding quite well lately and picking up some winners from few opportunities. I saw him ride some howlers last year but seems to be riding well at the moment.
Devastating. If My Son Max's run had come up alongsides Ducal he would have won. Got lonely out in front but ralliedwhen My Son Max came up alongside him.
300/1 shot in the next...!!! Hold The Star... Gotta say thats my pick to get in the 'Ive picked and won on a 20/1 or greater' thread...!!! That would take some beating... Otherwise its the 3/10 shot that will take some beating...
I think you may be right ROTO as Ducal was not all out but never got the chance to respond. This said the winner did not seem to be all out either, would have been good to see him come half a furlong out though to allow Ducal to race again. I think the form is good as the two horses we selected were within half a length and seperated by the benefit of a positive start which is pretty much what happened when they last met.
100% convinced that Ducal would have repelled My Son Max had that happened. Can't complain though as Dobbs did absolutely nothing wrong and gave him a great ride. Yeah form of that last race looks strong but no surprise at all that Ducal turned around the form of the last race. Ducal actually got there travelling too well and Dobbs probably found himself in front a little sooner than he would have liked.
