Fletcher,Larrieu and.Nancekivell have each sign a one year rolling contract to continue in their present positions in the club as manager, assistant manager and trainer respectively. Fletcher has also announced that he has finished his playing career. James Brent is delighted that they will be continuing in the jobs that helped PAFC retain their league two status. This was expected news......so lets see how they do from a level playing field.......and lets see who they bring in to strengthen the squad.....especially in mid-field and in the goal scoring role.....which was lead by Waltons penalty taking.
Good news. I am glad that Fletcher is going to be manager next season. We need a new RB as back up for Berry. An attack minded midfielder and a strong technically gifted goalscorer.
It was noticable that when the Purse/Blanchard partnership were not in place.....as in the Cheltenham game......our defence looked vunerable.........maybe we need another central defender to cover for injuries or loss of form in that important position.......besides the other two areas that I have already mentioned.
Has anyone noticed that your typed message at times....doesn't always end up the same when posted.....this post above has "maybe vunerable" in it and I didn't type it like that and I cannot alter it.....WHY......does anyone know ???
John Deehan is set to leave PAFC.......James Brent thanks him for the help he gave Carl Fletcher and wishes him well for the future.
Very good news about Fletcher and Co. time now for them to take a break then back to the drawing board..
I think I'll reserve my judgement if its a good thing that Fletcher is staying, can't see the fans being so tolerant next season with some of the carp we witnessed this season !
I think it's largely a matter of doing what was necessary to survive. I don't think he is wedded to negative football but all the really successful sides first make themselves hard to beat. Keegan got Newcastle playing with great attacking flair but all those 4-3 wins became 3-4 losses and they won nothing. Even when Arsenal was so easy on the eye it was based on a solid defence. They stopped winning anything when that fell away. Not comparing us to either of those superb teams but I would settle for a winning season after the few we've had recently. Yes, more entertainment would be great but points win prizes and there are no points for artistic impression in football - only for the result. I was certainly one who criticised Luggy and the rotten style of hoofball he presided over but if it had got us into the Premiership I expect I would have found it in my heart to love it - for a while at least! Lets hope we can win AND entertain next season. We need a Nallis or a Friio plus a reliable, injury-free striker. Let's also get Hemmings back for a start.
