The only difference between Vettel's and Button's race today was the Vettel got lucky at the start while Button got unlucky.
Yeah it was the lucky start that was pumping in the quick laps on a set of 40 lap old primes. No.
Im not denying it was a very bad weekend i just feel he had no chance in the race after the disaster of qualy (his fault) + first corner. bad, but not to "did previous rules flatter him?" level. After Kovalainen pitted, Jenson was stuck behind a torro Rosso IIRC and as such could still not run at his own pace.
For the record, Button was never really in the DRS zone when it came to Kovalainen in the first stint, which rather implies that Kovy wasn't holding him up.
I believe button was told to save tyres so he stayed out of the turbulent air, hoping his one stop would save him, When it didn't he got frustrated and started making some fairly desperate attempts to pass, but as he said while Kovi continued to place his car and have better traction their was nothing he could do.
It was the lucky start that allowed him to be in that position to do so and not stuck behind slower cars. That was not crashing into the back off him please log in to view this image , that was just spinning.
I think he was just maintaining a gap and looking after his tyres because when he span and fell about 4 secs behind him he closed the gap right back up within 2 laps.
Pretty sure he tagged the back of him, even so I didn't see anyone else going backwards through the chicane.
Does not look like he does from the video, but not 100%. Looks like he was just frustrated and just went in too hot and lost the rear on turn in. It was a mistake but when you have been stuck behind a slower car all race and you are in 14th place you are going to get frustrated, especially when when you do try and overtake in the main overtaking chicane they just cut it to stay ahead and do not give the place back.
Was this when Jenson DNF'd? please log in to view this image I never did actually see the crash. Since i gather that spin wasn't the end.
â¢Best Driver: Vergne â¢Worst Driver: Button. Was nowhere today, couldn't make the alternate strategy work, unlike Vettel. â¢Best Rookie(Grosjean,Pic,Ricciardo,Vergne): Vergne â¢Best Team: Red Bull, scored a ton of points, looking useful for the constructors championship. â¢Worst Team: Toro Rosso. Ruined Vergne's great drive. â¢Best (imaginary)Overtake: Me playing F1 2011. Thats the only overtaking done today. â¢Funniest-moment: Kamui's space hopping Sauber â¢Most Surprising Result: Massa keeping Alonso on his toes. Forza Felipe. â¢Least Surprising Result: Schumacher hitting someone â¢Special Mention to: Heikki Kovalainen. Good drive today. â¢Race Rating: 0/10 â¢Best Commentator overall: The commentator on the Shanghai Shenhua match, i started watching that instead.
please log in to view this image I believe this is where Button learnt the technique, but in reality its been around since Aztec times
He could have braked when he saw grosjean coming across him after Alonso had basically ran him out of room. Schumachers fault, caused an avoidable incident.
Just watched it again and Button did hit him. He was going for an overtake and locked up and then Kovalainen turned in and Button hit him.
I thought he did, wasn't 100% sure because I was bleary eyed after struggling to keep awake for over an hour.
Why didn't Grosjean brake when Alonso was running him out of room? Why was Alonso even squeezing him? I don't blame anyone for what happened, but if I was Schumacher would be the most innocent out of those three
