Best Driver: This one is hard, but overall Vettel and Alonso were the best Worst Driver: Button - what an awful drive. We saw these sort of performances from him a few times at Honda but I thought he'd improved a lot since then? Maybe the loss of rear grip from EBD ban is hurting him, or maybe the extra rear grip from the double diffuser and EBD made him look better than he really is. Best Rookie(Grosjean,Pic,Ricciardo,Vergne): Vergne Best Team: Red Bull Worst Team: HRT Best Overtake: What overtake? Funniest-moment: Hamilton's radio message Most Surprising Result: Vettel 4th Least Surprising Result: Schumacher DNF (I predicted it) and Webber winning Special Mention to: Webber, Rosberg, Hamilton, Massa, Schumacher, Hulkenburg, Kovalainen - superb driving throughout from them. Perez made some errors but deserves some credit for his strong race pace. Race Rating: 3/10 Best Commentator overall: Coulthard The best driver one wasn't easy because there were so many good performances, but overall I felt Alonso and Vettel were a step above the others. Alonso's performance was intelligent, saving his tyres in the first stint to attack Hamilton and doing an amazing in-lap. He was sharp at the start and SC restart and arguably the quickest driver when it started raining. Vettel was a bit lucky at the start but had strong race pace throughout his first stint - staying close to Massa despite having tyres that were apparently 1 second per lap slower. Then when others pitted he seemed to be in another league despite having much older tyres; credit to him for making the strategy work. Button on a similar strategy spent the race stuck behind a Caterham
•Best Driver: Red Bull boys and Heikki •Worst Driver: Romain Grojsean+Pastor Maldonado, the new crash kids! •Best Rookie(Grosjean,Pic,Ricciardo,Vergne): Vergne, would of been higher if he hadn't been put on the inters •Best Team: RBR •Worst Team: Lotus, McLaren and Toro Rosso •Best Overtake: I guess Seb at the start, avoiding Grojsean •Funniest-moment:Erm....the Sauber getting launched in the air •Most Surprising Result: Seb getting up to 4th, was thinking 6th at best! •Least Surprising Result: McLaren going backwards •Special Mention to: Alonso and Rosberg, both had solid races •Race Rating: 4/10 •Best Commentator overall: BBC.
Bit harsh on Jenson Forza, Overtaking wasn't possible today, Like when Raikkonen's tyres dropped off. He held up Schumacher, Hulkenberg, Senna, Di Resta, Ricciardo, Kovalainen and Button without anyone able to do anything on the guy in front. The Start simply ruined his race, Hence why Vettels strategy worked. He got lucky at the start and found the clean air to do something.

Best Driver: Webber was faultless all weekend, his lap was out of the blue and then controlled the race. Worst Driver: Maldonado - from FP3 onwards he was awful, lucky to be allowed to race in my opinion and deserved to retire early whether it was his fault or not Best Rookie(Grosjean,Pic,Ricciardo,Vergne): Vergne Best Team: Mercedes Worst Team: I don't think anyone really deserves this Best Overtake: Vergne on Schumacher Funniest-moment: N/A Most Surprising Result: Schumacher fastest in qualifying Least Surprising Result: N/A Special Mention to: Perez probably would've had a strong weekend if Pastor hadn't hit him in FP3, pretty sure that caused his failure in Q1 and he looked strong all weekend apart from that Race Rating: 4/10 - <neg> Best Commentator overall: Edwards - because unlike DC he didn't complain about the swimming pool slo-mo's; they were the best part DC.
I'm sure you're not alone, Naz; but I am rather surprised that so many seem surprised ! Perhaps I should have placed a bet on a good showing from the car which has the best mechanical grip on the grid. These days, mechanical grip is the most important factor at Monaco and I believe Mercedes had the best car for the weekend – and by some margin. Rosberg did a fair job, although let himself down in qualifying when it really counted; but in my book, he is still not a top-tier driver. I truly believe that if they had a couple of the best (e.g. Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel, Button), they'd have sailed off into the distance with an easy 1 - 2.
His pace was awful all weekend. Overtaking was difficult but that didn't stop Vettel making up ground, whereas Button started lower than he should've and went backwards. Only Maldonado's horrorshow stopped JB getting worst driver from me as well.
Vettel didn't overtake anyone. He got to sixth in the first corner then followed Massa at frontrunning pace, allowing him clean air with which to set the great laps he did. Jenson was the big loser at the start when the flying kobayashi pushed him wide. From there he simply never had clear track to show his pace (whatever it was). Obviously as he admits it was his fault for qualifying so low but past lap one there was nothing he could do. One interesting thing is that his Q2 laps were worse than those from practice by 2-4 tenths. It does worry me though that Jenson seems to have no idea why its happening.
I didn't say he did, but you used not being able to overtake as an excuse for Button being stuck behind Kovalainen all race, despite others being able to overtake cars in the pitstop phase, even if Button couldn't make the pass on track his car was fast enough that he should've been able to pass after Kovalainen pitted. Aside from not being able to make up ground during the race, he qualified poorly and then crashed into the back of Kovalainen. He had a 'mare.
