I've lived in Bergen in my younger years Based on your description I don't think your stay was very long, am I correct? The weather is horrible 90% of the year, rainy city. But you're right about the girls, lots of students so it's fun if you're in your early twenties.
Those advertising boards are fake, i knew it was doing my head in. Theres a weird kind of shadow the players cast on it and they dont pan properly if the camera moves quickly.
Well, it's been a pleasant evening, windows open getting a nice breeze, checking out a few threads, sipping nicely chilled Pinot Grigio. Thankfully I didn't waste it concentrating too much on England. Didn't expect miracles from Roy's first game, but with no playmaker it's going to be a struggle.
WTF! Why have Ireland given up on Eurovison? They we're a shoe in for the win in the past, now they mock the competition with their participants (can't say I blame them, but still...)??? Shocking ****!
A couple of years, 1974 & 1975. I remember the waterfront area of Bergen being very pictureque - I don't really remember the weather - recall us staging a football game against the locals. We also occasionally put into Farsund a tiny community at the end of a long fjord. On one dry docking the ship's chief engineer invited me to join him for a family gathering at his home where a fantastic smorgasbord was served. I recall the trip from Bergen to our remote destination being a whole series drives & small ferry crossings. After the party we stayed overnight then drove back the next day - a great experience. For one crew change a group of us travelled back to UK with stop-overs in Oslo & Copenhagen which was a fun time.
Well said Norway. As we won't be able to pay for this bleedin' thing for another 30 yrs at least, we will continue to send turkeys (even twin turkeys) for the foreseeable future so that we DON'T win! On a serious note, we used to send talented singers when it was an ACTUAL song contest. When it becomes one again we might send over a few decent crooners...... The good singers will be with me in Poland in two weeks time!
You going to Poland?! Good on you, should be a lot of fun What did you have to do this time to get the seal of approval from home, or do you take the missus with you (without a mention of the Euro's)? Sing your hearts out, I'll be cheering for Ireland too. By the way, are Johnny Logan one of the singers you bring with you
During the 1-5 over Germany, Motson, for it was he: Unless I'm very much mistaken, I think this is England's biggest victory over Germany since the War.
Hasn't the only enjoyable thing about the Song contest been the mocking of the perpetual cr*p that's performed on that since it started - from Sandy Straws puppets on strings, to Norway No Points, to the plastic glitz and palava about nothing we get today. Even a boring international friendly beats that!
Stan you've hit the nail on the head. Don't anyone get their hopes up for this tournament because if the last few are anything to go by, I'm gonna be glad the GAA Ch'ship has started.
