im worried about the Vertognen saga...this drags on and he will tell us to fk off..then Levy can shove the odd mill up his arse...because you wont find a better centreback for 12 million!! what does this guy expect? surely Vertognen is replacing King...does he expect to replace King cheaply?
Lol my bad - Townsend and Bostock did both go to the clubs in the updated post (Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday) but both loans ended early, as did Adam Smith who, as you say, played for us. OP updated - if there's any other errors people, let me know!
I saw Sebastian Giovinco a couple of years ago when he was at Juve and played against man utd in the CL. He was the best player on the pitch and I thought at the time he would be a good fit at Spurs. A little like VdV but he can take better corners and free kicks
But after he's been at Spurs a while, without any set piece practice, he will be just as bad as the rest.
http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11675/7783077/Dos-Santos-set-for-Spurs-talks 17 appearances in 4 years. started only 2 league games. Shocking.
Haven't got a chance at Giovinco, he'll be signing for Milan or Inter most likely. Juve are kicking themselves they let him go haha.
The Kranjcar and Corluka double deal is being mentioned again. £8mill for the pair would be scandalous, especially since they rate them enough to pay them a combined £160k pw according to the story. http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/footba...spurs-bid-for-niko-kranjcar-and-vedan-corluka
They've knocked £2m off the bid since last week? Although I'd rather he stuck around, if Corluka wants to go I don't blame him, and he should fit in with the team - and a few of the Croatian team are dotted around Ukrainian clubs already. On the other hand, we should keep hold of Kranjcar at least until January, if not for the remainder of the season, unless we bring a couple of new midfielders in during the summer.
Well what a ****in surprise...not! Two things, first, what makes think he's not La Liga 2 standard anyway! Secondly, he's been trying to 'resurrect' his career in Spain for over 2 years now...does he think the word might have not have got round by now. Oh, wait, it did, a relegated team were interested!
The last one said up to £10mill. I'd get rid of Niko in a shot, clearly 'Arry doesn't want him so I see little point in keeping an unhappy, unwanted player for yet another season he'll spend struggling to get on the bench and strolling around in Europa League games.
this lad is world class on FIFA...i play him upfront...hes lightening quick..great finisher....got 46 goals for Spurs on legendery level..dont test me man!!!! and you can pick him up cheap in your first season.
The best reason to keep Niko is, assuming that Bentley and Dos Santos leave this summer, he provides cover down the right should Lennon be injured/suspended/rested. If we sign somebody else, though, there's no need to keep hold of him if an offer is on the table. Come to think of it, Mateo Kovacic isn't in the Croatia squad for the Euros, so should we make a bid? (He plays for Dinamo Zagreb, he's 18, is the second-youngest scorer in the history of the Champions League, and has been compared to Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona in the Croatian press - there, made the job easier for the tabloid hacks reading this page...)
At 18 I don't think that should bother us too much. Bale wasn't in the Wales squads when he was 18. And Wales is a much easier squad to get in that Croatia!
He was when he was 17! Young talent should be an after thought for us at the moment. We need players we can depend on to finish off our squad and only a few youngsters with potential if we manage to move on a lot of our current fringe players.
Apologies. I was just looking through the team sheets on this useful website, and couldn't find Bale anywhere in the 2008 teams (so when he was 18) but now you've said that I looked through the 2007 squads and see that he was in a couple of them. I can't remember back now, was he injured for a lot of 2008 then? Or did he just get left out for a bit? http://www.dragonsoccer.co.uk/teamsht1.htm
I think that was the kind of time period when we couldn't get him for fit for two consecutive weeks it felt like and he was well off the radar.
Bale was in the Wales squad at 16 - the main reason he didn't play in 2008 is he was crocked for half the season (anyone else remember him hobbling onto the pitch on his crutches to celebrate at the end of the Carling Cup Final?) Whilst we need a deeper squad from the outset, if we had a youngster or two that could feature in the last dozen games and contribute we'd be laughing. They'd be fresh due to sitting out the early season (barring the occasional low priority games here and there) and would inject some enthusiasm into the team. Bale coming into the squad rejuvenated out push for CL football, Sandro gave our CL campaign a shot in the arm with his performances against Milan, so there is something to be said for it.
