Like I said earlier. Its not about the money. RVP is requesting signings. http://www.adifferentleague.co.uk/p6_1_15047_van-persie-tells-arsenal-to-spend-if-he-is-to-stay.html
If this is true then Bravo! I think even Wenger and the board may do what needs to be done if they have had this ultimatum put to them. The absolute nightmare, disgraceful, shameful, unforgivable scenario would be Robin leaving because the club showed no ambition.
Yes, Bravo RVP - if this is true. I would not blame him for the being upset with the lack of ambition.
I don't think it's about money neither, sure the club still have to put in a respectable financial offer that does match the value of what RVP is providing for us, but the key issue for him is ambition, I think that's why he's waiting before he commits to a new long term deal, he wants to see some new signings, some signs of improvement and ambition. It's going to take much more than signing Podolski to satisfy that ambition, not just for RVP, but for us fans too, we need to make 2-3 more world class signings.
Even though the report doesn't have direct quotes from him, i would think that RVP is after glory more than money. He clearly loves the club and only wants the best for it. However, he only has a few more years left of top football and he wants to secure some legacy before he retires. I respect his ambition and forcing Arsenal's hand to either buy some top quality or be forced to see him leave. What he is demanding is nothing out of the ordinary. We clearly have the money but refuse to spend. If us fans and outsider know this and regularly talk about it then what do you think him and the players talk about? If any of the rest were near his class then they too would say the same things....
Apparently not - besides it wasnt Wengers fault, or any of the players. They have been brilliant. It was all Hill Wood's fault.
no players were available to strengthen... it was impossible to sign anyone until 4 games into the season because it takes so long to get transfers through...
This is one of the things that really gets on my tits. The other top teams don't seem to have any problems getting their transfer business done. When we hear bollocks like 'we couldn't find the right players' it reeks of stinginess.
its probably the mental stress their accountants put on them, trying to avoid taxes on their contracts. Poor Arshavin couldn't handle it 'you mean I have to pay taxes in the UK?'
If all this information about RVP negotiations is true, then we are truly at the huge turning point. Basically what RVP says to the board is - you have the choice guys - either you invest in proper players, strengthen the squad and push for titles, maintain you status of a super club, make more money on future sponsorship, compete with Manchester Clubs and Chelsea, keep fan happy paying top dollar OR you save your money, lose the only true top superstar and keep slowly descending into a mediocrity, frighting for CL - Europa league places with the likes of Spurs, Liverpool and Everton. Unlike last year we are clearly at the crossroads here - whatever way we chose it will be a statement decision. It will be a huge declaration of intent. Last year Wenger said that losing both Fabregas and Nasri would mean we are no longer a big club. But it did not ring true to me - Fab was just going home and Nasri was not the player of that status. This year it is completely different - this is really a choice between a big club and a club with limited ambitions. Now. We all? I hope have no illusions, and understand that with this stance Robin is gone. There will be no big investment in players, no significant change of salary structure - it just will not happen. For this to happen we need another owner and another board. Problem is - just like a year ago this story will drag on with unavoidable result, Wenger will be looking for a compromise, refuse to accept his defeat with RVP until the last minute - and that would be the last minute of the transfer window. And speaking about compromise - I really hope that there is a middle ground for Arsenal between going for trophies and mediocrity, and Wenger has a cunning ability to fight on this ground. But this ground looks to be shrinking rapidly. Or is it?
) He was shocked because Russia has a flat tax of 13% regardless of income. When he learned about 50% he was truly in shock. That meant that he actually would get less than with Zenit. And that bastard agent did not even care to inform him about this, because ge wanted the contract to be signed asap. Everyone would be in shock.
Emir- you have summarised the decision the Board have to make very well....... we'll see in the coming months (yes it will drag out beyond weeks - and RVP will go as a result)
