And even yesterday Sunderland, who may lose star striker Stephane Sessegnon – courted by a host of top European clubs – were reported to be ready to make a late swoop for Sigurdsson http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footba...-deal-this-week-91466-31051970/#ixzz1w1QrRovi ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Would absolutely love it if we signed this lad to play CM for us as he is something completely different to what we have. I think MoN will go with a 4/2/3/1 or a 4/3/3 for this coming season and the central midfield 2 or 3 however he decides to play it needs to have something about it and this lad would be perfect! I would love us to get Manuel Fernandes who has been released from Besiktas (which I posted about earlier in the week) but if not this lad and Colback in a midfield 2 with McClean, Sess and Hoilett infront supporting Fletcher would improve us so much! As for Sess leaving I hope not and I see talk of Man City possibly wanting him and offering Johnson as bait. I would take it if we can get Hoilett as he can certainly play the role Sessegnon did last season, fingers crossed he stays though.
Could be a shrewd move getting both poolie think the top teams will be in for them though so if they want first team action come to us if they want to warm the bench go elsewhere.
Who are you on about when you say both mate? Sigurdsson and .... Fernandes? mate if we had them two as our central midfield we would add atleast another 15points onto what we got the season just gone and we could get them both for 7m!!! We might not even have Colbck next season as an agent came out earlier this week and said a champions league side want Colback, if he does go which I hope isn't true and with the mediocre Vaughan, Meyler and Gardner we certainly will need two good cm's to get us ticking.
Fernandez on a free could be the signing of the summer. If Moyes is interested again he might end up there. Would love him here
One or the other Poolie.......Sess or this Siggy fella? Sess maybe worth more at present, but Sig is a lot younger. Maybe we can hoy Johnson into the equation...
Swansea City have agreed a fee of about £7.2m with Hoffenheim to sign loan midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson, BBC Sport Wales understands. The Icelandic international and Swansea are expected to have talks regarding his personal terms this week. Sigurdsson joined Swansea in January on loan from the German club until the end of the season. The 22-year-old impressed during his spell at the Liberty Stadium and scored seven goals in 17 starts. Hoffenheim signed Sigurdsson in 2010 for £6.5m from Reading, Swans boss Brendan Rodgers' former club. Swansea's initial bid, thought to be close to £4m, was rejected by the Bundesliga club, who are keen to recoup the fee they paid for Sigurdsson. The Welsh club earned £45.9m from television and prize money during their first season in the Premier League, finishing 11th in the table, and so have funds to strengthen the squad. Sigurdsson said in April he would be happy to stay at the Liberty Stadium beyond the end of the season.
Manuel Fernandes, ex Portsmouth, Everton and Valencia. Has been playing for Besiktas and has been quite impressive the season just gone by all accounts. Besiktas are in it up to there neck and couldn't pay some of there players so him and the club have came to the arrangement of cancelling his contract. As for Sess or Sigurdsson I would have Sess every time but cudn't Sig play behind Sess in a 2man central midfield with Sess n 2 others ahead of them supporting a striker. Saying that it looks nailed on he is going to Swansea now like but you never know in football
Why not poolie shy bairns get nowt etc. would be nice to see both at SOL next season but, still think they'll both be eyeing CL/Europa teams rather than us.
What I don't understand about Besiktas. If they are ****ed for money why not sell their players instead of letting them leave for nowt. Even at knocked down prices they could settle the wages owed and pay off a little debt
God knows mate but they have some quality footballers playing for them the wages they must of been paying to get the likes of Simao and Quaresma must of set them back a canny bit. Wonder if We could be in for almeida who we were after in Jan if we don't get fletcher, looks like they are willing to let him go for less than 4m. Could be a fantastic signing at that price.
