My "theory" is that if there were no religious schools then instead of schools attended only by one culture as there are now, we should see a mixture of children at every school. This would benefit integration and lessen racism.
He also said that the kid, who is living in an integrated environment, is basically fine. The problem is caused by what her parents, who are not integrated, are telling her. Abolishing segregation now wouldn't solve the problem overnight, but we'd have made considerable progress in a generation's time.
so you would also get rid of single gender schools to lessen mysogyny and fee paying schools to get rid of the class divide? You do see a mixture of kids at every school. dumb ones, smart ones, black ones, white ones. I am not sure exactly what you think a denominational school does?
I went to an all boys school and I wouldn't send my own children to one (if I ever have any) but it's a seperate issue to religion. Fee paying schools can do what they want, it's their money not the taxpayers money. Not every school, not many white folks want to send their kids to an Islamic school. You're from Glasgow aren't you? Is it not the case there that there are schools exclusively attended by either protestants or catholics? Would you say that that increases, decreases or doesn't affect sectarian behaviour?
double ****ing ...... first off the article is a pissy mess , i dont care about cricket it was an excuse to post a nonsense thread, secondly our football teams and websites. Well your football teams wouldnt be half of what they are without foreign fans, and secondly i guess by websites you mean this site ..owned and run by an Irishman
Its not their money when the fee paying schools get charitable tax status....which they have. And yes, it is a separate issue from religion but don't you think misogyny is a problem? No, I am not from Glasgow. No I don't think schooling from a particular denomination increases or decreases sectarianism but I do think it is a common line trotted out as a cure all solution without any real consideration. There are good schools and bad schools. Good parents and bad parents.
Some of you help fund our game by subscribing to Sky. There was football in England before Sky existed and we used to win things in Europe then rather often, a fact which I dare say attracted you to a certain team. It is plain for all to see that this website is meant to replace a service on the British Broadcasting Corporation site which is being discontinued. The irish person who started this site happened to have the idea of setting up a site for us British sport fans to go to. I joined because it appears to have more users than other similar sites and, on the internet, number of users is everything. That's why I likened the site to Ryanair on another thread: owned by the irish, not very good, used by the British.
Good point, the charitable tax status would need to be taken away from religious private schools. As for whether the discontinuation of religious schools would be a benefit: you think it wouldn't, I think it would. Has any other country done this and got some results for us to look at?
meh 2 years of europe is all liverpool had wen i started supporting them then they were banned wrong again .. this site was up and running long before aunty said it was pulling the plug on 606. the name might be a hint not606 it was an alternative not a replacement try to keep up
They got off lightly. Usually the runts of the litter are tied up in a bag and thrown in a river.....
The charitable tax status was a reference to fee paying schools. All of them. I am not sure whether or not you deliberately missed that point? There is a clear segregation between church and state in France and there has been for over 100 years and there remains a significant problem with Islamophobia. So much so, that a Christian with the same or similar CV as a Moslem is two and a half times more likely to gain employment than their Moslem counterpart...vive la différence eh?
Private/fee paying, whatever you want to call them. OK, it appears to have not made much difference for French muslims. I still think that segregating children enforces differences and results in more bigotry and less integration.
ah yes the good old british game of gaelic football, american football, la liga, serie a, basketball, formula 1, international soccer, rugby
The point about the private schools is that they are availing charitable tax status. Meaning that there is a considerable sum not going to the tax man. Money that has to come from elsewhere. Therefore, I am paying for them. I don't see the logic in implementing a policy that doesn't work.
Do you know they can convert there houses into Mosques without having to put that on the Concensus. It takes the piss in Oldham. I'm sick and tired of it. A Mosque was built 2 foot over it's planned height and the Council said it's Okay. Someone's conservertary was 3 inches Wider than planned and it had to be taken down.
