Obvioulsy he stayed with us after Kenny's departure, but i'd like to get some of your views on what role he will be doing next season because i believe our new manager, whoever it be, will want to employ their own first team coach ... Do you think its part of the agreement with the new manager that Clarke will be first team coach regardless or do u think FSG will have another position available for him if the manager wants to change it ... For me it seems FSG are a fan of Clarke (i have no facts of this, its just the impression i get) ... I realise the new approach that seems to be getting installed and i like the sound of it but i just wonder if our new manager will be able to choose his own first team coach and assistant manager ... For me he must be safe or otherwise he'd have gone with Kenny, but just wondering if he'll definitely be our first team coach next season...
I think keeping Clarke (and Kevin Keen) provides the club with some consistency. It also gives the new manager some knowledge of what is already at the club in terms of quality etc. Not every manager brings their coaching team with them.
I would expect Clarke to leave at the end of the next season or Christmas at the earliest depending on how things are going. Like Gerrez said, he can provide useful knowledge to the next manager and offers some continuity to the team whilst we change around.
Yeah possibly, i also get the impression (again no facts to back it up) that if Clarke were to go Keen would follow... So maybe a good thing to still have a bit of structure in place for the new manager...
IMO, there is no way FSG will allow both Clarke and Keen to go. When they first arrived they mainly talked about having consistency, preventing a change having a sweeping effect on the club. Obviously changing key positions including the DoF and the manager is bad enough, if these two coaches go too then the only guy that remains outside FSG and players would be Ian Ayre! It would be like completely starting from scratch, something I don't think they really want to do. I guess time will tell.
It's odd he's escaped any of the blame Kenny took. There was a lot of criticism about Kenny's substitutions but it seemed like Steve Clarke was always standing behind him advising on those.
I know what you mean but the buck stops with the manager. Why is no one mentioning Kevin Keen in this either?
shanks kept paisley and ***an..... i think the BIG mistake hodgson made was he brought a rubbish coaching staff with him or should i say NO coaching staff. NOw LFC is a top 4 wannabe club with multimillions to spend and a squad worth 300mil+ would you hire martinez and then let him bring small timers with him? I think whomever comes in has to realise that he can bring maybe 1-2 guys with him and one can be an assistant but in the end he needs quality and at least clarke is quality.
