I keep wandering back & forth too. I've taken a step back from my disappointment & looked at it in light of a set up being proposed in that article. I think patience might be required by us fans again. I think as much as I initially thought the owners were being short termist?? I think it just might be the opposite. They wanted the long term structure in place. I think they will be more lenient now because they see even if we don't make the champions league in the next couple of years (as long as we are competing for it the manager is safe) they then believe the new structure will provide the players internally with a consistent style of team play long term to challenge for top honours in league & Europe. The limited money/sustainability murmurings were are warning to us fans that the days of lots of 20+ mill players are over until we start making the money earning spots. I assume they believe the structure should provide better scouting/negotiating power to find the type of players we have been buying for 10 million less. Under this scenario I would go with Martinez as he is a blank slate without too fixated a football identity. His identity will be Formed at the same time as ours as a club. While I certainly believe AVB could be flexible I think he's further along than FSG would prefer.
Whoever gets it I will back and the fact that we are still talking about kenny shows his hold he had on the club for me. With Hodgson when he went I don't think word one was mentioned for awhile! If it is martinez, I hope for the best and hope we play some slick footy, if it a name, I hope he can help bring in those players that we really crave and get us back in the CL. I think martinez may take more time but hey look what Di Matteo did at Chelsea..... pretty much nothing and got them winning the FA and CL!

It's their model and their man, that's why Rafa is out of contention IMHO as he would be another fan's choice manager. Fair play to FSG they have balls like King Kong, I just hope they are starting to understand what this means to LFC fans and how important it is they get it right. These same ones ( When Chelsea last won the league) were happy for us to lose to Chelsea just so United wouldn't have won the title. When do you ever want your team to lose??? I think this was around the time of old 606 and it was just mayhem by that point.
To be fair I think forums like this skew opinions slightly. Some people get so carried away with winning an Internet debate they take a stance online they don't necessarily truly believe in. They back themselves into a corner against someone else & don't want to back down. Deep down if they are a real supporter they don't want us to lose. I still remember that end of season Blackburn game when Redknapp scored that free kick. He looked like how every fan felt. Wanted to win but sooo didn't want what winning could have meant.

looking like its martinez then.. good manager but surprised he would want to take the Liverpool job on....unless the owners are actually going to give him a 4 year contract as it will take a few seasons for roberto to build a side that is capable of playing his brand of football, he is trying hard at wigan but its a slow progress with them through lack of funds to bring in the right players...it should take less time at liverpool but still will take a couple of seasons...
