Clint Hill would be a good choice but we have to wait until july or even start of august if he is even in our starting XI. You never know who we could buy during the summer. If its possible the captain should be englishman.

    Why?
What if we signed Messi, Ronaldo, Kompany etc....?
Do we have many Englishmen in our team?

Intresting comment !..Why not..an Aussie ?

There lays the problem! We don't really have a natural born leader in the team to be captain.
When you look at the likes of Kompany at Citeh, you can see what a huge impact a strong captain can have on the team. We have had them in the past.. the likes of Macca, Roeder and Fenwick springing immediately to mind.
We need to see who comes in... with hopefully a leader in the pack who can do the job for us.

Got to be Mackie for me. One of the most hard working players in the team, and is one of a few players that's likely to start next season. Can't see Hill playing as regularly as he did at the end of this season, so that's why I wouldn't give to to him.

Keep Joey Barton as captain. An inspiration to all of us.

As an ex AC Milan season ticket holder I love Gattuso. But he is crocked, virtually no pace, and a huge on field liability re red cards etc. 2 years ago, yes, now sadly well past it.

    Fair enough mate. didnt know.
I remember seeing him hammer david Beckham for italy (when he scored). I tried so hard to hate him (Gatuuso) but just couldn't. Absolute class player and one of the world best at what he does.
Dont really think we need a player with pace. We has that already in our team. Just need a real leader to shake it up when the going gets tough, and lets not kid ourselves..Its going to be just as tough again this season!

...by no pace I mean he can't get above a slow trot, hence the tackles are even later ......but he is a true diamond, 100% commitment, loves the shirt and is made of granite.

Not even an obvious choice to start for me , Hill was far superior of the centre halves for the latter part of the season , if a new CB comes in could be Anton being the bit part .

Right now, Clint Hill although it has been mentioned we do not have a natural leader I disagree Clint IS a natural he just has never been put in the position before. Now he finds himself at 33 playing possibly the best football of his career, the players and fans player of the year all a bit new to him. But he shows the right mentality and personality and importantly commands respect, can keep cool I think he would revel being captain and even become a stronger player.

Ale will never be captain material as he is a great follower and will show 100% loyalty to a captain just what a team needs and apart from this I fear his game would suffer under the responsibility.

Anton maybe/could be but lets be honest he is not the sharpest tool in the box and respect would become an issue and I feel he is easily overridden.

Ale will never be a captain?....really?

I'm willing to put money against this...he may never be our captain,, but i believe this guy will run a team some day soon...

It was hi and Barton that allowed Tarbs to play as he did in the Championship; and he was the ONLY player to look completely at ease when we came up.....!

Flanman...50 quid to any kids team you like. Give it 3 seasons. I'm confident. If you fancy icreasing it / changing, I'm open to offers.

My nifty wil be going to local boys teamin west london!
