Having always been a west stander, I have recently hit the mid life crisis and ditched the tartan blanket, flask and puzzler crosswords mag, and god forbid (sorry Vicar) have been thinking of The East Stand However, I have a dodgy back (2 slipped discs) and definitely have to sit down, so I am bit concerned that the people in front will stand a lot of the time and block my view. Have I got anything to worry about being able to see in the East Stand, or should I skulk back to the west stand and avoid the accusing stares of class betrayal they all give me after posting this?
South Stand - Family West Stand - Flasks East Stand - Jumping up and down and abusing the away fans I'd stop where you are.
Oh yeah it's a massive rave all the time in the east stand. All bouncing, all swearing cauldron of noise and bile. In truth the kids in the north stand v Burnley last year sang more than the whole of the East stand & most of it sits down unless you're in E1-E3 or at the back.
Docko, you amuse me, as your post is clearly satirical. I am an east-stander and, even though I stand all game, I still find myself careering from side to side trying to see the match in spite of the head-shaped pube mass in front of me. I think you would only need to worry about people stood up blocking your view in sections E1 through E3. Any of the other sections, it's bums on seats time. You should not then experience any further disc slippage. What you won't see in the east stand is the ceremonial unloading of tuppaware and cutlery at half time, followed by the loud munching of several thousand backpackers tucking into their pasta swirls. That, surely, is reason enough to switch.
If I come back to Hull after Uni (unfortunately quite unlikely) I'll make the switch to the East, I'm getting tired of being offered spare blankets and sudoku puzzles.
