In the case of Kranjcar, he offers the ability to change things tactically on the right wing.

Lennon, Dos Santos and Townsend are all pretty similar in style of play, whilst Bentley also hugs the touchline - so in a game where the opposition left back is marking/kicking Lennon out of the game, bringing on the same type of player isn't going to change things for us. Kranjcar, however, does offer a different option from the bench because he can tuck in to allow Walker to get forward, and has good interplay - plus he's a good finisher who can win matches for us (as he has done so several times in the past, when given the opportunity) - and it's no coincidence that when he played on the right we flattened Liverpool and Newcastle.

Our squad needs depth, and Kranjcar is the sort of player who can provide it. Indeed, he's one of the few players not in our first XI (the others being Sandro and Dawson) we need to keep hold of.

I'd rather we kept Corluka over, for the sake of argument, Nelsen - he's a tidy player, and is a better foil for Lennon than Walker is, but it's likely he'll be off.

I think defoe will be sold if we get Remy especially if Ade is signed as well.

i know some of you rate certain squad players but you should all know arry by now and if they haven't been used in the past season, or were sent out on loan then they won't be used next season so no oint in thinking "they would be useful to keep".

Which could mean that Kranjcar may be staying - his chances were limited by inconveniently timed injuries, notably during the Europa League campaign, more than being frozen out.

Outside out first XI there's very few squad players that deserve to stay - Sandro, Kranjcar, Huddlestone, Dawson, Gallas and Cudicini deserve to stay. After that, if we have a better player lined up some can leave, whilst others should've left already and been replaced with some of the youngsters.

I like Niko, but just can't see a future for him with us.

As for Sandro, I wouldn't class him as a squad player as such, going by talent and what he brings to the team, I would have him over parker and he will be snapped by a top european club if he doesn't get more games with us.

I know what you're saying but Modric also did a good job for us on the left at one stage but has looked lost out there since. Lack of pace isn't a concern in itself, we can just change our style a bit but name me one thing that Kranjcar is much better than Bale and Lennon at. If we're going to be adjusting our system when one of them gets injured I'd rather we weren't doing it in order to compensate for a player's weaknesses, we should be seeking to take advantage of the players talents. Either we need to change our system again or we need to get rid of him and I think he's fed up with being given half chances and a squad place to fight for so we might as well get rid and find someone that can actually play on the wing.

I think he's good but when someone can't get a new deal at Chelsea because their wage demands are too high, that means their wage demands are definitely too high.

I wouldn't want Kalou, a couple of Chelsea mates (wait, acquaintances!) can't wait to see the back of him and quite frankly if he's not good enough for them then I don't see why he'd be any good for us.

Kalou and Kuyt once formed a decent partnership at Feyenoord.
Both appear to be available, so perhaps they'll 'reform' somewhere?
Villa could do with some firepower, especially if Bent leaves...

Isn't that what we've got now!...and it doesn't work. Regarding wide players ManU have Nani, Young, and Valencia, fast and comfortable on both wings...like for like even...I'll stick with SAF's proven theory.

Football just doesn't work like this, Pienaar and VdV were telepathic at Ajax and perfect strangers for us. Because things work in one environment, it does not mean in any way it will work somewhere else.

I'd say anyone wanting firepower needs to look further than those 2! <laugh>

I would love us to snap up Dirk Kuyt. IMO, sets such a good example on the pitch and works tirelessly. always admired him as a footballer.

    Yeah, I like Kuyt, too.
Not sure if he'd fit in at WHL, but he should've been used more by Liverpool last season.

Good assessments of the Dirk Kuyt that was, tireless the last few years, but thats not going to continue at 31, apart from that he offers very little these days...hence where he sits!

I seem to remember earlier in the year that it was reported that a deal had been done to sign Rasmus Elm in the summer, was this ever confirmed? I have only seen him play a couple of times but he looks a good prospect and Scandinavians have often settled well in England, I think he would offer you good options covering wide and possibly being able to play more centrally if Modric goes.
