I just think it is like picking at a scab, by reading "rumours" AVB wants the job....Liverpool cooling on AVB.... Van Gaal to be Director of something or another...Van Gaal wants the managers job.... #talktorafa

For every rumour, there is an equal and opposite rumour, and the ony thing that is coming out of it all, is Liverpool fan frustration.

Anyone else think Van Gaal has a bit too much "history" to be a good choice?

He might have history, but he has medals, finals, top players all in that history and I would take that. He would certainly keep us playing well I would think. he doesn't do the ego game as well ( could be good , could be bad depending on how you look at it).

As Bluff, says he does have a rep for being a bit of nutter and being difficult to work with, but he does have the credentials. I suppose all of the top managers have something crazy about them:

Mourinho - pure arrogance and winds people up
    Fergie - arrogant bully
Wenger - rarely see's anything and stubborn
    Benitez - control freak

That's probably fair and it might be even more relevant with modern footballers being even more arrogant than ever. I think good managers can strike a balance...the players know exactly who the boss is but he knows when to use the stick with a player and when to use the arm around the shoulder. This is why I'm not sure a really young manager is what we need right now.

I do think having someone with a proven track record might give the squad a certain focus.straight away and help attract a better standard of player than we might be able to with someone more inexperienced.

I agree - I would much prefer an experienced manager. But it would appear that FSG want a young manager. I can see the logic but only with an experienced high profile name as the Director of Sport. We need something or someone to be able to lure the better players.

He seemed to realise that the squad needed younger players. The more I think about managers that are mentioned the more I'd like him to take over. If he brought a list like that into Liverpool I'd be happy but I don't think he will get 84 million.

I dont think he'll need £84million. We have plenty of decent young players.

I thought at Chelsea their dof signed the players. Anyway he's on record saying he didn't sign some of those you've listed and some where done deals before he joined them.

I wish Kenny would have played them and maybe we wouldn't have been 8th and he wouldn't have been sacked.
