no mention of Joe Calzaghe? Retired undefeated. Lewis was boring but excellent at boxing. Nas was exciting, ****e at boxing, brilliant at punching. Hatton was OK. found out in the end. His victory over Kostya Tszyu was very impressive though. Bruno had no chance in the era he was in. Watson was a really good prospect. probably would of turned out to be better than both benn and eubank who were both excellent.
Ted Lewis. Terry Downes Jimmy Wilde Bob Fitzsimmons (the only man to win World Championship Titles in Light, Middle & Heavyweight)
In my opinion he was the best by a mile. Probably the best technique a boxer has had in a generation. The romance of it all being a family affair makes it even more special. An absolute legend.
The rasta guy, who fought with his hands at his waist, long before it was fashionable to do so? Relied on ultra quick reactions to keep him out of trouble. Yeah, he had a touch of class.
I was staying in an hotel in Brighton, the bird had gone to bed. Aside from the barman the only people in the bar were me, Eubank and some bird he was chatting too. Gotta be Chris based on he's a big ****er close up.
I was at this fight http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/Mike_McCallum_vs._Michael_Watson The first fight on the bill that night was Lennox Lewis' professional debut - went to go for a piss and Kirkland Laing was in their hiding from his manager with the biggest reefer I've ever seen! Got chatting to him and by the time I got back to ringside Lewis had won by KO.
Thinking about it, it can't have been the Lewis debut fight as I remember watching all of that - must have been the year before, but Lewis was definately on this bill
As an amateur through flyweight to welterweight with a record of 96-7 then yeah I was ok Turned pro terms down off lawless and saw the corruption at it's full value.. Great post Jonny & great to weed the crap out of the people boxing? A mugs game
Kirky Laing, the Caribbean fruit case, the gangy specialist but a great fighter. Beat Duran but to get the twat to turn up for a fight was a mare. Sparred with him loads and very handy he was but my memories will always be of orbiting the universe with him
Lennox Lewis by a country mile. He had the lot; heavy handed with either fist, great defence, fast hands for a heavyweight and durable.
He wasn't bad but he never beat roberto Duran and blew the whole purse on a spliff the size of Australia - Kirkland laing is God.
