No, I never have. But people generally tend to resort to slander to help them out in a debate when they are short of arguements to back themselves up. Looks like this MD, Toby tag team went on all through the night.
Iran were at war with Iraq for many years and many tens of thousands died. This particular war was still going strong in the 1980's
That was defensive military action. The conflict was brought to Iran by American supported/armed/funded Iraq. All because the puppet CIA dictatorial regime in Iran had been overthrown a couple of years previous.
Fair enough I suspect the Iranians may have been shooting their guns at the Iraqis so that is a tad aggressive.
Why do you keep posting that bullshit about Ahmadinejad being intentionally misquoted, Jacky? I've corrected both you and Fan about this before, but you both insist on lying to back up your claims. Most of those that originally ran the quote took it from Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, the state run media outlet of his own country. He also ran it on his own website. It may not have been an accurate quote, but it was the fault of his own people that it got widely distributed in that form. Why lie about it?
Its was the NYT that ran the misquote. The state run media was running the foreign mistranslation unaware. The NYT later retracted the article but put forth no notice of retraction or apology for the mistake.
The NYT ran the story after IRIB. The quote that they ran isn't even particularly inaccurate, either. "Our dear Imam (referring to Ayatollah Khomeini) said that the occupying regime must be wiped off the map and this was a very wise statement." They didn't say the country of Israel and the "wiped off the map" part is fairly debatable. "Eliminated from the pages of history" might be more accurate, but it's still very similar in tone. IRIB ran the story on 25/10/2005. http://web.archive.org/web/20070927213903/http://www.iribnews.ir/Full_en.asp?news_id=200247 NYT ran it, with the same translation, on 30/10/2005. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/10/30/w...r=1&ex=1161230400&en=26f07fc5b7543417&ei=5070
